A polishing material including polishing abrasive grains, the polishing abrasive grain having a core material that includes a metal oxide, and a cover layer that is provided on a surface of the core material and includes an oxide of a metal, that is different from the core material, or an oxide of a semimetal. When the polishing abrasive grains are observed with a scanning electron microscope after boiling a slurry including the polishing abrasive grains for 5 hours, a ratio of a longitudinal axis to a lateral axis of the polishing abrasive grain is 1.0 or greater and less than 1.5. The polishing abrasive grain preferably has a mass ratio of the cover layer to the core material, cover layer/core material, of from 0.3 mass % to 30 mass % inclusive. The cover layer preferably has a thickness of from 0.2 nm to 500 nm inclusive.

Abrasive material, method for producing same, and abrasive slurry containing same

The present invention provides a polishing slurry capable of polishing even high-hardness materials such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride at a high polishing speed. The present invention is a polishing slurry including a slurry containing a manganese oxide particle and a manganate ion for polishing high-hardness materials having a Mohs hardness of 8 or higher. In the present invention, the manganese oxide particle in the slurry is preferably 1.0 mass % or more; the manganese oxide is preferably manganese dioxide; and the manganate ion is preferably permanganate ion. The polishing slurry according to the present invention enables even high-hardness hardly-machinable materials such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride to be polished smoothly at a high speed.

A traction control device for a motorcycle eliminates a need for a waiting time for detecting an amount of change in a vehicle state and a subsequent prediction time, and can execute quick traction control. The traction control device includes an engine driving force control unit, for calculating a real slip ratio of the motorcycle, setting a target slip ratio according to a driving state of the motorcycle, and controlling a driving force of an engine so that the real slip ratio becomes the target slip ratio. The traction control device also includes a throttle grip opening degree sensor for detecting an opening degree of a throttle grip; and a bank angle sensor for detecting a bank angle of the motorcycle. The engine driving force control unit calculates the target slip ratio on a basis of the throttle opening degree and the bank angle of the motorcycle.
