Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs) have been used as surfactants in a wide variety of household products and industrial applications. Despite their effectiveness as surfactants, NPEs can accumulate in the environment and adversely affect aquatic organisms. The dispersants of the present disclosure can be used to disperse oil and/or microbes while avoiding the adverse effects of NPEs. Oil and microbial fouling is of particular concern in refinery cooling towers where the water may be contaminated with oil and microbial growth can cause cooling inefficiencies among other problems. The dispersant may include an oil dispersant comprising a C-Calcohol ethoxylate, a bio-dispersant comprising a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, and 2-butoxyethanol. The oil dispersant, the bio-dispersant, and the 2-butoxyethanol form a dispersant solution, and the solution does not include a nonylphenol ethoxylate.

Methods of and systems for removing organic substance from condensate generated from an industrial evaporation process are provided. The condensate comprises water and the organic substance. The methods and systems provide solutions related to enthalpy recovery of industrial evaporation processes such as, for example, sugar cane juice evaporation processes, dairy evaporation processes, coffee processing evaporation processes, fruit juice evaporation processes, soup evaporation processes, and chemical industry evaporation processes.

Process condensate water treatment

The present disclosure relates to rheology-modifying agents and methods of modifying the rheology of slurries. A rheology-modifying agent may be added to a slurry. The rheology-modifying agent may include a polymer and the polymer may include at least three chemically different monomers. The slurry may include lime and/or magnesium hydroxide.

The present disclosure relates to a formulation and a process for the removal of inorganic impurities from waste water. The formulation consists of a blend of at least one alkali metal aluminate, at least one cationic organic coagulant and optionally at least one alkalinating agent in pre-determined proportions. The process for decontamination using the afore-stated formulation includes steps such as admixing, settling, microfiltration and optionally acidification, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. The disclosure further provides an apparatus for the removal of inorganic impurities from waste water.

Waste water decontamination

The invention provides methods and compositions for reducing the amount of water required in an industrial process, especially a bottling process such as beer or beverage manufacturing. The method comprising the steps of: collecting water used to rinse cleaned and/or dirty recycled bottles, spraying the collected water at a food contacting piece of equipment as part of a CIP rinse, and passing the CIP second rinse water into a cooling tower as make-up water. The method allows for the re-use of water already in the system but by being careful where each water stream goes the water does not accumulate contaminants that would damage the cooling tower or foul the bottled product or vessel that is cleaned by CIP method.
