A method and apparatus for a chip tracking system. For example, an apparatus comprises a chip tray and a tracking controller. The chip tray has a plurality of light sensors positioned inside a column. In some instances, the tracking controller is configured to perform operations that cause the apparatus to detect a level of ambient light at each of the plurality of light sensors and determine, in response to detection of the level of ambient light at each of the plurality of light sensors, a number of gaming chips placed inside the column. The tracking controller is further configured to perform operations that cause the apparatus to compute, in response to determination of the number of gaming chips, a chip-column value. In some instances, the tracking controller is further configured to automatically indicate the chip-column value via one or more electronic devices communicatively coupled to the chip tray.

Chip tracking system

A mobile device with remote play application is used to operate a gaming machine with a separately releasable module (SRM). The gaming machine and the mobile device are connected to a gaming network. In response to a visual code displayed on the gaming machine being captured by the mobile device, both a web socket connection and Virtual Network Computing (VNC) session are established between the SRM and the software application. The VNC session reproduces a video button panel of the gaming machine in the remote play application. The gaming machine is operated via touch inputs to the reproduced video button panel. To limit a remote session to mobile devices in close proximity to the gaming machine, the SRM sends an audio code to the mobile device and only maintains the session in response to receiving an echo of the audio code over the web socket connection.

Using mobile devices to operate gaming machines

A gaming system includes a gaming machine for conducting a casino wagering game and logic circuitry. The logic circuitry establishes a gaming session of the casino wagering game for a player, during the gaming session, detects an object at a detected distance via a presence sensor of the gaming machine, determines whether or not the detected object is the player based on one or more object detection criteria including the detected distance, in response to the detected object being determined to be the player, maintains the gaming session, and in response to the detected object being determined to be an object other than the player, initiates an end-session counter to terminate the gaming session. A system is disclosed for identifying and reading gaming tokens. The system includes: a plurality of gaming tokens; a playing surface including a network of conductors disposed to make electrical contact with the conductive rims of the gaming tokens; one or more transceivers disposed under the playing surface and associated with areas where the gaming tokens are placed on the playing surface; and an identification processor in communication with the transceiver to determine the denomination of the token from the data. Each transceiver is configured to transmit an electromagnetic interrogation signal to the conductive layer of a gaming token resting on the playing surface. The grounded circuit, in response to the interrogation signal, responds with data to identify the chip denomination through capacitive coupling between the conductive layer and a transceiver.
