Aspects of the disclosure provide techniques for retransmitting transaction layer packets (TLPs) for which a negative acknowledgment (NACK) is received without retransmitting previously transmitted TLPs that are correctly received, yet out-of-sequence, by a receiver. A receiver (e.g., a receiving link partner) can provide a transmitter (e.g., a transmitting link partner) with a NACK that includes a starting sequence number (SSN) and an ending sequence number (ESN), which can notify the transmitter about the packets for retransmission and/or packets that can be purged from a transmit buffer of the transmitter.

In some aspects, the techniques use a specific register to identify the cause of link retraining. In some aspects, the Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe) Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) can be configured to identify whether link retraining is initiated as part of a trainerror or linkerror exit or not. A UCIe device can have a redundant_recovery (RR) register that can be set to different values to identify the cause of link retraining (e.g., due to trainerror/linkerror or not).

In some aspects, the data storage device can repurpose the memory of a write buffer with low utilization to serve an active logical unit which becomes full, thus preserving the function of the write buffer of the active logical unit.

The Called Party Mobile Terminal is connected to a Music Platform on the network for receiving music that can be selected by the Calling Party to be played by the Called Party Mobile Terminal as a Ring Tone for alerting the Called Party to an incoming call from the Called Party. The Called Party can select the music for the Ring Tone prior to making the call or while making the call.
