The present disclosure proposes a general method for accessing a network when a wireless device, e.g., a user equipment, knows about a wireless network because it can e.g. measure on a cell and read its system information, but is unable to access it. The disclosure relates to transmitting uplink control messages relating to data received in a wireless device and in particular it relates a method, performed in a wireless device supporting a first radio access technology and a second radio access technology, of transmitting uplink control messages relating to data received in the wireless device. The method comprises receiving a configuration message defining in the first radio access technology, a Physical Fast Control Channel for transmission of uplink control messages relating to data received in the wireless device using the second radio access technology and transmitting uplink control messages relating to data received using the second radio access technology on the Physical Fast Control Channel. The proposed technology also relates to methods of handling and receiving uplink control messages in radio network modules, and to a wireless device and radio networks modules for implementing the methods as well as to corresponding computer programs.

Control channel for a radio access technology

A method in a wireless communication network for assisting a user equipment to receive signals from a target access node. The wireless communication network comprises the target access node, the user equipment and a serving access node serving the user equipment. The serving access node sends information about time instances to the user equipment. The time instances are scheduled for sending signals from the target access node in a beam direction towards the user equipments. The time instances may be determined in the target access node based on its own position and a position of the user equipment and/or a beam direction of the serving access node. The time instances may also be determined in the serving access node based on its own position and a schedule of the target access node on beam directions versus transmission times. The user equipment receives signals from the target access node during the time instances indicated in the received information. In this way, leaving more time for the user equipment to receive data or signal from the serving access node. As a result, the throughput of the wireless communication network is increased and improved.

Network node, access nodes and method for assisting user equipments to receive signals in wireless communication network

The disclosure relates to a method performed in a network node for broadcasting. The network node is configured to broadcast signals to communication devices located within a coverage area of the network node. The method comprises: establishing location information for a subset of the communication devices, the subset comprising communication devices targeted by the broadcast signal; establishing at least one antenna pattern based on the established location information for the subset of communication devices; and broadcasting according to the established at least one antenna pattern. The disclosure also relates to corresponding network node, computer program and computer program product.

Method and network node for broadcasting

The present disclosure relates to a method of a first radio device using a first radio access technology, RAT, for communication with a second radio device. The method comprises listening for any transmission in a frequency channel of an unlicensed radio frequency band. The method also comprises determining whether the channel is idle. The method also comprises transmitting a first radio message on the channel in accordance with a second RAT, different than the first RAT. The method also comprises determining transmission properties for a message to be transmitted on the channel in accordance with the first RAT, based on the determining of whether the channel is idle. The method also comprises transmitting a second radio message on the channel, to the second radio device and in accordance with the first RAT using the determined transmission properties.

Radio communication in unlicensed band

The invention presents methods and corresponding device relating to cooperative spectrum sensing. First a candidate set of sensors that can participate in an occasion of cooperative spectrum sensing is obtained. A cost formula for calculating a cost associated with using sensors from the candidate set in the cooperative spectrum sensing is then defined (). The candidate set is partitioned () into an active set and a passive set. The active set contains any sensor (s) from the candidate that is to participate in the cooperative spectrum sensing. The passive set includes any sensor (s) that is not to participate in the cooperative spectrum sensing. The partitioning of the candidate set is done by applying an optimization procedure () which performs a constrained optimization of the cost in accordance with the defined cost formula.

Method and apparatus relating to spectrum sensing

Mobility-based radio resource assignment methods, systems and devices can assign user equipment to different nonoverlapping groups of radio resources depending on mobility of the user equipment. The groups of radio resources are nonoverlapping in time, frequency and/or code. For example, the groups of radio resources can include different pilot symbol densities, link adaptation and/or scheduling algorithms. The radio resources may be Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio resources.

Mobility-based radio resource assignment methods, systems and devices

This document discloses solutions for using a mix of reference signal types in a wireless communications network, e.g., a first type and a second type, in making positioning-related measurements. In one example, a UE uses a 'mix' of CRS and PRS. As an example case, a UE receives PRS and, possibly, CRS from one or more cells, while it receives only CRS from one or more other cells. In this case, the UE determines, e.g., received signal timing values for CRS as received from some cells, on a per-cell basis, and for PRS as received from other cells, on a per-cell basis. The UE can measure and report on per-signal/per-cell basis and can perform calculations involving a mix of timing measurements made for both CRS and PRS. In a further aspect, reference signal transmissions are controlled or coordinated on a per-port basis in cells that use multiple antenna ports for transmitting within each such cell.

Methods and apparatus for positioning measurement in multi-antenna transmission systems

The invention comprises a method and a corresponding apparatus (). A candidate set of sensors that are available to participate in an occasion of cooperative spectrum sensing is obtained. For each sensor in the candidate set, its radial distance to a central coordinating node in a communication system is also obtained (). A sequence of minimum radii is produced (). For each minimum radius in the sequence, an accommodation number is determined (). The accommodation number associated with a minimum radius is the greatest number of sensors that can be placed on circle having this radius without a probability that all these sensors are mutually uncorrelated falling below a design probability threshold. Sensors from the candidate set are then selectively added () to an active set of sensors based on the minimum radii, the corresponding accommodation numbers and the obtained radial distances.
