Embodiments of the present disclosure further relate to a camera device assembled such that to reduce (and in some cases minimize) auto-focusing actuation power when the camera device operates in a macro mode. The camera device includes an image sensor and a lens assembly in an optical series with the image sensor. During manufacturing of the camera device, the lens assembly is assembled within the camera device to have an optical axis substantially parallel to gravity and positioned to have an offset along the optical axis. The offset is determined during manufacturing of the camera device such that, when the camera device is in the macro mode, the lens assembly is positioned at a neutral position relative to the image sensor without actuation applied to the lens assembly.

One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for intelligently accessing one or more different hardware-based mechanisms for cropping out, blurring or blocking private content in a live preview image generated for the camera and in media recorded by the camera. The technique incudes receiving input regarding a plurality of objects to be concealed in media captured by an imaging device and identifying at least one of the plurality of objects in a field of view of the imaging device. Further, the technique includes modifying the at least one of the plurality of objects in a live preview image or media captured by the imaging device using one or more hardware-based actuators, where the modifying the at least one of the plurality of objects causes the one of the plurality of objects to be concealed.

A stabilization actuation assembly includes a lens barrel, a magnetic assembly, one or more stabilizing coils, an outer shell, and a piece of ferromagnetic material. The lens barrel is configured to carry a lens that is positioned along an optical axis. The magnetic assembly includes a plurality of magnets that produce a magnetic field. The one or more stabilizing coils are coupled to a printed circuit board below the plurality of magnets. The outer shell includes an aperture through which the lens barrel can actuate. The piece of ferromagnetic material is coupled to a surface of the outer shell and is positioned to augment the magnetic field. A current supplied to the one or more stabilizing coils interacts with the augmented magnetic field to cause the magnetic assembly together with the lens barrel to translate in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis.

The system may also include a camera housing, affixed to the support structure, that houses optical components for a camera. The system may further include an antenna, at least a portion of which is disposed on the camera housing, as well as an antenna feed that electrically connects the antenna to a receiver or a transmitter. Video presence systems are described that detect an area of interest (e.g., facial region) within captured image data and analyze the area of interest using known color information of the content currently being presented by a display, along with measured ambient light color information from a color sensor, to determine whether the area of interest (e.g., face) is currently illuminated by the display or whether the AOI is not affected by the display and instead only illuminated by the ambient light. Upon determining that the display casts color shade on the AOI, the video presence system pre-processes the image data of the detected area of interest to correct the color back to skin color under ambient light prior to performing general white balance correction.
