A display device includes: a display unit at least partially foldable and transformable, and including a display surface that displays an image; a body unit provided to a back face of the display unit; and a sensor having a detecting surface positioned to be covered with the display unit or the body unit. The display device is switchable between a covering state in which the detecting surface is covered and an uncovering state in which the detecting surface is uncovered. The uncovering state is switched from the covering state by folding transformation of the display unit.

A display device manufacturing method according to the disclosure includes the steps of forming a first resin layer serving as a first flexible substrate on a first mother substrate, forming a first light-emitting layer on the first resin layer, and forming, on the first light-emitting layer, a first encapsulating layer encapsulating the first light-emitting layer, forming a second resin layer serving as a second flexible substrate on a second mother substrate, forming a second light-emitting layer on the second resin layer, and forming, on the second light-emitting layer, a second encapsulating layer encapsulating the second light-emitting layer, bonding the first mother substrate and the second mother substrate with a buffer sheet interposed between the first mother substrate and the second mother substrate so that the first encapsulating layer and the second encapsulating layer face each other, peeling the first resin layer from the first mother substrate in a state where the first resin layer and the second resin layer are layered with the buffer sheet interposed between the first resin layer and the second resin layer, and bonding a first support film to the first resin layer.

Method for manufacturing display device including bonding first mother substrate and second mother substrate with buffer sheet

A display device includes: a base substrate having a display area and a frame area, the display area to display an image, the frame area surrounding the display area; a light-emitting element in the display area; and a sealing film provided in the display area and the frame area so as to cover the light-emitting element, the sealing film including a first inorganic film, an organic film, and a second inorganic film, wherein the first inorganic film covers the light-emitting element, a third inorganic film is provided between the first inorganic film and the organic film, the third inorganic film having higher wettability for a liquid drop, the organic film on the first inorganic film covers the third inorganic film, and the second inorganic film covers the peripheral end portion of the first inorganic film and the organic film.
