Nematicidal aqueous suspension concentrate compositions

Provided herein are aqueous suspension concentrate compositions comprising biologically active 3,5-disubstituted-1,2,4-oxadiazoles or salts thereof that are useful, for example, in the control of nematodes. Nematodes are active, flexible, elongate organisms that live on moist surfaces or in liquid environments, including films of water within soil and moist tissues within other organisms. Many species of nematodes have evolved to be very successful parasites of plants and animals and, as a result, are responsible for significant economic losses in agriculture and livestock.

A method of producing lignin-based matrix microparticles for the controlled release of an agricultural active includes forming an emulsion of an organic solution in an aqueous solution, wherein the organic solution contains a lignin derivative and an agricultural active in a volatile organic solvent and the aqueous solution contains an emulsifier; and removing the organic solvent, thereby producing microparticles having a matrix comprising the lignin derivative within which the agricultural active is distributed. Small, spherical lignin-based matrix microparticles that release an agricultural active at a controlled rate are described, as are plants and plant propagation materials that are treated with such microparticles.

A method is provided for decontaminating a surface that is susceptible to contamination by a contaminant by applying to the surface a coating which produces a decontaminating agent for the contaminant in response to a signal, connecting the electroactive coating to a source of a signal, and when the surface is contaminated, applying the signal to the electroactive coating, thereby producing one or more decontaminating agents which neutralize or destroy the contaminant. Coatings for practicing the method and articles that have been protected by the novel coatings are also provided.

A method of improving germination rate in pesticide-treated plant seeds involves forming a pesticide-free polymer coating on a plant seed before treating the seed with a pesticide, where the type of polymer and the coating thickness are designed to block phytotoxic contact of the pesticide with the seed while allowing sufficient transfer of oxygen to maintain the seed's viability and sufficient transfer of moisture under environmental conditions normally encountered by the seed after planting to enable its germination; and then treating the coated plant seed with a pesticide. Seeds that have been treated by this method, and plants that are grown from the treated seeds are also described.

Method of protecting seeds treated with a phytotoxic agent

A method of controlling the release rate of an agricultural active ingredient from a seed that has been treated with that active includes providing a seed that has been treated with the active ingredient, applying to the treated seed a film that includes an emulsion of a polymer in a liquid in which both the agricultural active ingredient and the polymer have low levels of solubility, and then curing the film to form a water insoluble polymer coating on the surface of the treated seed. Seeds that have been treated by this method are also provided.

Method of controlling the release of agricultural active ingredients from treated plant seeds

A method of improving the yield and vigor of an agronomic plant involves treating plants such as soybeans and corn and/or their propagation material with a composition that includes an active agent, such as a diazole fungicide, a triazole fungicide, or a strobilurin-type fungicide, which has the capacity to improve the yield and/or the vigor of the plant in the absence of pest pressure by fungal plant pathogens. Formulations that contain a diazole fungicide, a triazole fungicide, or a strobilurin-type fungicide, and plants and plant propagation material, such as seeds, which have been treated by the novel method are also described.

A method of producing a controlled release form of an agricultural active material includes the provision of an organic liquid composition in which the active is present, but where the liquid composition is free from aromatic solvents and is maintained below the normal melting point of the active. The liquid composition is formed into small droplets and the droplets are enclosed by a non-water soluble shell to provide microcapsules, the shell of which is designed to release the agricultural active at a pre-selected controlled rate when the microcapsule is exposed to natural environmental conditions. Controlled release forms of agricultural actives are also provided.

Method of microencapsulating an agricultural active having a high melting point and uses for such materials

A process for preparing fibers containing intrinsically conductive polymers comprises extruding two or more filaments, applying a coating formulation containing a salt of an intrinsically conductive polymer to at least one of the filaments to form a coated filament, combining the filaments to form a filament bundle, and processing the bundle into a fiber. A filament coated with an intrinsically conductive polymer and a fiber comprising at least one coated filament are also provided which are useful in preparing textiles and other materials which exhibit conductivity.

Preparation of fibers containing intrinsically conductive polymers

Organically soluble intrinsically conductive polymer compositions having enhanced electrical conductivity are produced by adding a hygroscopic, water-insoluble plasticizer to an organically soluble intrinsically conductive polymer salt. Polymer blends containing such compositions are also produced by blending a matrix polymer with the plasticizer/ICP salt compositions. Methods for enhancing the electrical conductivity of an organically soluble intrinsically conductive polymer salt provide for the addition of a hygroscopic, water-insoluble plasticizer to an organically soluble intrinsically conductive polymer salt.
