There is disclosed a method of coating mammalian hair, the method comprising applying, on the external surface of individual hairs of the mammalian hair, an oil-in-water emulsion comprising: (i) an aqueous phase containing water; and (ii) an oil phase containing at least one water-insoluble reactive condensation-curable film-forming amino-silicone pre-polymer that, subsequent to condensation curing, forms an elastomer. The reactive oil phase may further contain a plurality of sub-micronic pigment particles dispersed therein. Suitable compositions and kits including the same are also disclosed, as well as methods for preparing the compositions.

Composition, kit and method for coloring keratinous fibers

There is disclosed a method of producing a coating on an external surface of individual mammalian hair fibers, the method comprising (a) applying on the external surface of the individual fibers, an oil-in-water emulsion including an amino-silicone film forming pre-polymer, so as to form an at least partially cured amino-silicone film; and (b) applying an aqueous dispersion on said amino-silicone film, to produce an overlying, optionally pigmented, polymeric film that coats said at least partially cured amino-silicone film; wherein the aqueous dispersion contains: (i) a polymeric material having neutralized acid moieties; and optionally (ii) a plurality of pigment particles, at least partially enveloped by the polymeric material, and dispersed within said aqueous dispersion. Suitable coating or coloring compositions and kits including the same are also disclosed, as well as methods for preparing the compositions or removing films formed therewith.

Compositions, kits and methods for coloring fibers

There are provided methods for the treatment of diseases involving dysfunction of the peripheral and central nervous system comprising administering one or more spiro compounds. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions useful in such methods, compounds for use in the preparation of such pharmaceutical compositions, processes for preparing compounds useful in the practice of such methods, and some novel such compounds per se.

The present invention provides 8-substituted 1,3,7-trialkylxanthines useful as A.sub.2 -selective adenosine receptor antagonists and compositions comprising such compounds. Examples of the 8-substituted 1,3,7-trialkyl xanthines include: ##STR1## In compound (a), R.sub.1, R.sub.3, and R.sub.7 are methyl and X is one to three substituents, which may be the same or different and selected from the group consisting of amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylcarbonylamino, carboxy C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkylcarbonylamino, halo, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyloxy, amino C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyloxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyloxy carbonylamino, amino C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkenyloxy, isothiocyanato, and diazonium tetrafluoroborate. In compound (b), R.sub.1, R.sub.3, and R.sub.7 are methyl, R.sub..beta. is hydrogen or methyl, and X is selected from the group consisting of R, C(.dbd.O)OR, and C(.dbd.O)NH--R, wherein R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl.

S-substituted 1,3,7-trialkyl-xanthine derivatives

Compounds useful for treating diseases of the central or peripheral nervous system in mammals have formulae I-XIII: ##STR1## wherein ring A or A' together with the spiro-carbon atom constitutes a bridged or unbridged ring containing one or two ring nitrogen atoms; and the other symbols have specified values, subject to certain conditions.

Spiro compounds containing five-membered rings

Infrared, visible or mm. radiation is screened by an aerosol comprising flakes (0.03-0.3.times.1.5-20 microns) of aluminum metal composition, having a mass extinction coefficient of at least 4.5 m.sup.2 /g in respect of infrared radiation and at least 3.5 m.sup.2 /g in respect of visible radiation. The invention includes also the flakes per se, and formulations containing them, the flakes being additionally characterized by the facts that the amount of manufacturing process additive with which they are coated has been reduced to between 0 and 2.5 weight percent, and that they have a bulk density at least 0.5, preferably at least 1.5 g/cc. The reduction in the coating additive may be achieved by modifying the amount of additive used in the manufacturing process, or by treating the conventionally manufactured flakes with solvents to reduce the amount of coating additive to the desired level. Compressing the thus-treated flakes increases bulk density, with no significant reduction in the mass extinction coefficient.
