A mobile sensing and payment method and system for parking fees is disclosed. The system includes an array of identity information collection modules in a parking facility. A background data processor collects mobile terminal identification information from a mobile terminal of a person entering the parking facility while the mobile terminal performs cell reselection. The data processor simultaneously senses transmission intensity of the mobile terminal using the terminal identity information collection modules. The data processor determines a location of the mobile terminal based upon the changes in the signal transmission intensity from the collection modules. The data processor generates a specific characteristic threshold for the mobile terminal to pass an entrance gate. The data processor causes the entrance gate to be opened records a specific time that the entrance gate is opened. The data processor records a specific time that the person has entered the parking facility.

Mobile sensing and smart payment system

A plurality of vehicle identity collection modules are deployed at different toll collecting locations, wherein each vehicle identity collection module is configured to broadcast wireless communication signals to cover a mobile communication device associated with a vehicle passing by the toll collection location over a wireless communication network, wherein strength of the signals is maximized so that mobile communication device switches and connects with the vehicle identity collection module during a wireless cell re-selection process. A mobile communication channel is then established and identification information of one or more of the vehicle, the driver, and the mobile communication device is retrieved via the mobile communication channel. Based on the retrieved information, actual moving path of the vehicle from its initial toll collecting location where the vehicle is first sensed to its current toll collecting location where the vehicle is last sensed is generated and a toll amount is calculated accordingly.

Systems and methods for electronic toll collection via mobile communication devices

A system can include multiple content ingress sites to process content into portions of content. A content ingress site, of the multiple content ingress sites, can include a first set of devices. The first set of devices can be configured to process the content in a synchronized manner. The first set of devices can be configured to have excess processing capacity to facilitate failover of a first segmenter device to a second segmenter device. The first set of devices can be configured to process content from multiple sources. The system can include multiple content distribution sites to encode the portions of content. A content distribution site can include a second set of devices. The system can include multiple content satellite offices to provide the portions of content to one or more destination devices. A content satellite office can include a third set of devices.

Content streaming redundancy architecture

Various examples of the present disclosure provide a mobile sensing and smart payment system. The mobile sensing and smart payment system includes a terminal-identity-information-collection module, and a background data processing center. The background data processing center is configured to successively and respectively trigger, in a suitable time slot, a user information extraction process to extract mobile terminal identity information corresponding to each passenger; based upon extracted mobile terminal information to determine start and destination stations for each passenger; and calculate a charge for each passenger based upon the start and destination stations, and a fee schedule. The present disclosure can effectively determine a charge for each passenger without a need for a corresponding passenger to swipe a card or insert a coin through a traditional gate machine, and thus is advantageous over conventional systems.

Scalable motion estimation is provided for macroblocks of a picture with the macroblocks being subdividable into partitions of different shapes and sizes. One embodiment of a method for performing motion estimation includes setting a target complexity for a macroblock of a source frame and performing motion estimation for one or more partitions of the macroblock until the target complexity is met. The macroblock partitions can be rectangular, square or a combination of rectangular and square.

Scalable motion estimation with macroblock partitions of different shapes and sizes

A StatMux system and method are provided for efficiently allocating time slots on the transmission channel between bit streams representing video and bit streams representing data. By providing such a system and method, when a decreased number of data bits need to be transmitted, a decreased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting the data bits and an increased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting video bits. When a decreased number of video bits needs to be transmitted, a decreased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting video bits and an increased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting data bits.

Method and system for interleaving video and data for transmission over a network at a selected bit rate

A two-pass encoder determines a quantization parameter (QP) value to control an actual number of bits consumed in a second encoding pass. The two-pass encoder includes a first encoding module, a rate control module and a second encoding module. The first encoding module includes a circuit configured to perform a first encoding pass to encode input video sequences. The rate control module is configured to determine R, a target bit rate for a picture in the second encoding pass, and &#x3b1;, a variable dependent on a QP value range, a picture type, and complexity. Embodiments of the invention generally provide a method and apparatus for scalable motion estimation. One embodiment of a method for performing motion estimation includes setting a target complexity for a macroblock of a source frame and performing motion estimation for one or more partitions of the macroblock until the target complexity is met.

Method and apparatus for scalable motion estimation

A process performs a search on a base reference frame in a video signal to determine a first motion vector for each of the possible partitions of a current macroblock. The first motion vector for a partition provides the most optimal match for the partition in the base reference frame. An optimal partition for the current macroblock, which gives a minimum motion estimation cost among all the possible partitions in the base reference frame, is determined. The process performs the search on the optimal partition over a non-base reference frame in the video signal to determine a second motion vector that provides the most optimal match for the corresponding partition in the non-base reference frame. A simplified search is performed on each partition other than the optimal partition over the non-base reference frame to determine the second motion vector for the corresponding partition.

Method and apparatus for providing a fast motion estimation process

A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for processing document images. In one embodiment, the method comprises extracting one or more features corresponding to one or more objects from a JPM compressed file, including extracting at least one of the one or more features without decoding, ranking document objects based on a task being performed by an application, and the one or more extracted features, and selecting a set of the document objects based on rank and at least one constraint.
