The invention provides a method for delaminating a composite by immersing the composite into a delamination solution; wherein the composite comprises a metal substrate and a coating applied on one side or both sides of the metal substrate, wherein the coating comprises a polymeric binder; and wherein the polymeric binder comprises an aqueous copolymer. The use of delamination solution comprising a weak base allows for complete delamination of the composite in a highly efficient and extremely fast manner. Furthermore, the delamination method disclosed herein circumvents complex separation processes, contamination and corrosion of the metal substrate and enables an excellent materials recovery. An application of the method for delaminating an electrode for a battery is disclosed herein.

An aqueous binder composition for a secondary battery electrode is provided, comprising a copolymer and a dispersion medium, wherein the copolymer comprises a structural unit (a) derived from a carboxylic acid group-containing monomer, a structural unit (b) derived from an amide group-containing monomer and a structural unit (c) derived from a nitrile group-containing monomer, with an improved binding capability. In addition, battery cells comprising the cathode prepared using the binder composition disclosed herein exhibits exceptional electrochemical performance.

Binder composition for secondary battery

A conductive composition for a secondary battery, a slurry comprising the same, an electrode comprising the same and a method of preparing the conductive composition are provided. The conductive composition comprises a polymeric material, a carbon nanomaterial and an anionic stabilizing agent. The polymeric material comprises a copolymer comprising a structural unit derived from an acid group-containing monomer and a structural unit derived from a polar group-containing monomer. The conductive composition exhibits an improved stability and dispersibility in water. In addition, battery cells comprising a cathode prepared using the conductive composition disclosed herein exhibit impressive electrochemical performances.

Provided herein is a method of preparing anode slurries of lithium-ion batteries. The silicon-based material is uniformly dispersed prior to mixing with other components of the anode slurry. The method disclosed herein is capable of avoiding agglomeration of nano-sized silicon-based material and effectively dispersing the nano-sized silicon-based material uniformly in anode slurries. Anodes coated with the anode slurries disclosed herein also show an improvement in the electrical conductivity.

Provided herein is a method for preparing a ternary cathode material for lithium-ion battery by a static mixer, wherein the cathode material comprises a lithium multi-metal composite oxide represented by xLiMnO.(1-) LiNiMnCoAlO, where 0&#x2264;a&#x3c;1, 0&#x2264;b&#x3c;1, 0&#x2264;c&#x3c;1, a+b+c&#x2264;1, and 0&#x2264;x&#x3c;1. The cathode material disclosed herein exhibits a high initial specific capacity, possesses good safety characteristics and shows excellent capacity retention.

Method of preparing cathode material for secondary battery

A method of designing and modifying electrode materials for a battery device is disclosed in this invention. The method includes constructing a first principle model for battery electrode material properties estimation and screening. The method also includes applying a structural and compositional modification on the first principle model. In some embodiments, the method includes developing a hybrid physical model to estimate the battery cell cycling behavior with the calculated and experimental parameters. The method and the simulation models have the advantage that both atomic level and physical structure will be considered for the battery electrode and its modified derivatives with small compositional or structural changes. Therefore, both the time consumption and accuracy for battery electrode material designing and modification for specific application requirements can be improved.

Method of designing and modifying lithium ion battery cathode materials

A composite material for a lithium ion battery anode and a method of producing the same is disclosed, wherein the composite material comprises a porous electrode composite material. Pores with carbon-based material forming at the pore wall are created in situ. The porous electrode composite material provide space to accommodate volumetric changes during battery charging and discharging while the carbon-based material improved the conductivity of the electrode composite material. The method creates pores to have a denser carbon content inside the pores and a wider mouth of the pores to enhance lithium ion distribution.
