A system and method include determining, by a controller associated with an aftertreatment system, satisfaction of an enabling condition and in response to the satisfaction of the enabling condition pausing, by the controller, hydrocarbon dosing in a regeneration cycle of the aftertreatment system. The system and method also include upon pausing of the hydrocarbon dosing, monitoring, by the controller, an oxidation catalyst of the aftertreatment system for a light-off shift condition.

System and method for mitigating high sulfur fuel impact for DOC/DPF system

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for adaptive regeneration of aftertreatment system components. The system may include an aftertreatment system and a controller. The controller is configured to access one or more parameters indicative of an ambient condition, determine a regeneration type of a regeneration process for a component of the aftertreatment system, determine an application in condition, and modify a parameter for the regeneration process for the component of the aftertreatment system. In some instances, the controller initiates the regeneration process. In some instances, the one or more parameters include an ambient air temperature, a reductant tank temperature, or a particulate matter sensor temperature. In some instances, the modified parameter includes a target regeneration temperature, a regeneration duration, a dwell time between regeneration process, a threshold value for the regeneration process, or a minimum regeneration temperature.

System for adaptive regeneration of aftertreatment system components

A method for diagnosing feedgas generation capacity of an oxidation catalyst in an exhaust aftertreatment system includes: determining a first temperature value at a first location in the exhaust aftertreatment system upstream of an oxidation catalyst, the oxidation catalyst being upstream of a selective catalytic reduction catalyst; determining a space velocity of the exhaust in the oxidation catalyst; determining an estimated exotherm value of the oxidation catalyst based on the first temperature value and the space velocity; instructing a doser of the aftertreatment system to dose hydrocarbon into the oxidation catalyst; determining an in-use exotherm value of the oxidation catalyst upon insertion of the hydrocarbon into the oxidation catalyst; and determining a fault condition based upon a comparison between the estimated exotherm value and the in-use exotherm value.

Systems and methods for SCR feedgas diagnostics

A system can include an engine, an aftertreatment system with a particulate filter, and a controller. The controller is configured to compare a time value since a last delta pressure soot load estimate process to a predetermined time threshold. Responsive to the time value being greater than or equal to the predetermined time threshold, the controller decreases a flow threshold value to a lower flow threshold value. If the flow amount is greater than or equal to the lower flow threshold value, then the controller activates a delta pressure soot load estimation process. A combined soot load estimate is then calculated using a delta pressure soot load estimation of the delta pressure soot load estimate process responsive to the lower flow threshold value.

Systems and methods are provided for feedgas diagnostics in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. An example electronic system may be part of on-board diagnostic (OBD) functionality in a diesel fuel vehicle and may comprise circuits for defining and managing system conditions for hydrocarbon dosing, adjusting the dosing to a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) while the system is in operation, and defining a diagnostic framework based at least on exothermic properties of various components of a DOC such that a DOC may be monitored for failure and/or end of useful life (EUL). The electronic system may include a tuning circuit for calibrating the diagnostic framework.
