The present disclosure discloses a three-dimensional seismic and vibration isolator with adaptive stiffness property in both vertical and horizontal directions. The isolator comprises an upper connection plate, a middle plate, an lower connection plate, a disc spring, a pre-compressed helical springs, a laminated lead rubber bearing, and viscous dampers. The upper connection plate, the middle plate and lower connection plate are made of high strength low carbon steel. The upper connection plate and middle plate are tightly contacted by the occlusive design, to guide the vertical motion. The vertical isolation system is made up of the disc spring, pre-compressed helical spring, and viscous damper. The horizontal isolation system comprises the laminated lead rubber bearing, pre-compressed helical spring and viscous damper. The disclosure adopts the theory of nonlinear adaptive vibration control technology and can be used to protect building structures or instruments from the seismic strikes or other environmental vibrations.

A system and method are provided including an inclusion module to receive a powder sample from a powder source; a computed tomography equipment; a memory for storing program instructions; an inclusion processor, coupled to the memory, and in communication with the inclusion module, and operative to execute program instructions to: receive the powder sample; execute a computed tomography (CT) scan process of the received sample to generate a first dataset including one or more images; identify inclusions in the one or more images, via a segmentation process; reconstruct, via a reconstruction process, the identified inclusion into a 3D representation; measure the identified inclusion; mark the inclusions on one or more image slices from the 3D representations; and determine whether the powder source is contaminated based on the one or more marked images. Systems and methods for packet re-transmission via a bi-directional wired interface between two devices are provided. A transmitter of a first device transmits one or more first transmit data packets to a second device over the bi-directional wired interface. Concurrently with the transmission of the one or more first transmit data packets, the first device receives, over the bi-directional wired interface, one or more second received data packets from the second device. A packet integrity monitor of the first device monitors whether one or more received data packets of the second received data packets is corrupted at the physical layer of the first device. In response to detecting that one or more received data packets of the second received data packets is corrupted, the first device re-transmits one or more transmit data packets of the first transmit data packets that was previously transmitted over the bi-directional wired interface.

Systems and methods for ethernet packet error detection and correction in automotive environments

The present invention belongs to the field of new materials technology and discloses a green method for preparing functionalized carbon materials. The present invention can use potassium ferrate(VI) as an oxidant and mechanical milling as a reaction technique for oxidizing carbon materials in a preparation of functionalized carbon materials having oxygen-containing functional groups. Compared with the prior art, the present invention provides a method that combines an environmentally friendly oxidant with an environmentally friendly reaction process. The oxidant potassium ferrate(VI) is a green oxidant without producing any toxic byproducts. The reaction process is solvent-free, facilitated by milling the solid mixture of carbon materials and the oxidant. Thus, the present invention provides an environmentally friendly method for preparing oxidatively functionalized carbon materials, which is of promotion value.

Method for preparing functionalized carbon materials

A rotor blade for a turbine of a gas turbine includes an airfoil. The airfoil may have a leading edge, a trailing edge, an outboard, and an inboard end that attaches to a root configured to couple the rotor blade to a rotor disc. The airfoil may have a cooling configuration that includes elongated cooling channels for receiving and directing a coolant through the airfoil. The rotor blade may further include: a tip shroud connected to the airfoil; outlet ports formed through an outboard surface of the tip shroud that fluidly communicate with the cooling channels; and flow directing structure formed on the outboard surface of the tip shroud. The flow directing structure may be positioned relative to the outlet ports and configured for directing the flow of coolant discharged from the outlet ports. The rotor blade may be useful to reduce local tip shroud temperature as well as improved stage aerodynamic efficiency by reducing the coolant supply needed to maintain the component at desired temperature levels.

A method for selective aluminide diffusion coating removal. The method includes diffusing aluminum into a substrate surface of a component to form a diffusion coating. The diffusion coating includes an aluminum-infused additive layer and an interdiffusion zone. The diffusion coating is solution heat treated at a temperature and for a time sufficient to dissolve at least a portion of the interdiffusion zone. Thereafter the aluminum-infused additive layer is selectively removed. An aluminide diffusion coated turbine component is also disclosed.

Method for selective aluminide diffusion coating removal

A membrane bioreactor (MBR) has membranes comprising a supporting structure. A supply unit doses a sorbent such as powdered activated carbon (PAC) into the MBR. The PAC is maintained at a concentration in the mixed liquor of 200 mg/L or more. Mixed liquor with the sorbent particles recirculates within the MBR at a flow rate of at least twice the feed flow rate. Air bubbles are provided to scour the membranes including during at least part of a permeation step. The sorbent particles are present in the mixed liquor and contact the membranes. Bioaugmentation products may be immobilized on PAC or other carriers and then added to an MBR or other bioreactors.

Use of activated carbon in a membrane bioreactor

A system and method for performing laser induced breakdown spectroscopy during laser ablation of a coating, such as a TBC coating, deposited on a surface of a component, particularly to enable obtained spectrometry signals of the ablated coating to be used to monitor and control the laser ablation removal process in real-time. The system includes a laser energy source and a scan head interconnected with the laser energy source to receive a laser beam therefrom and then direct the laser beam onto the surface of the coated component. Collection optics collect radiation emitted from a laser-induced plasma generated by the laser beam at the surface of the coated component. The system is further equipped to spectrally analyze the radiation and generate a feedback signal for control and optimization of one or more operational parameters of the laser energy source in real-time.

System and method for performing laser induced breakdown spectroscopy during laser ablation coating removal

A method for reducing recalcitrant chemical oxygen demand (COD) of a liquid in a water system is provided. The method comprises pretreating the liquid in a pretreatment unit () to remove indigenous bacteria or microbes to a population level below which the indigenous organisms can interfere with the screened and externally introduced microorganisms. The liquid is then provided to a reactor () that has a filter bed () formed with a carrier material (). Special microbes are screened and used to colonize the carrier material () to remove recalcitrant COD. A biofilm is cultured on the surface of the carrier material () to immobilize the screened microbes in the reactor (). The method further comprises adding a co-substrate as the liquid enters the reactor () and percolating the liquid through the filter bed () colonized with the screened microbes to degrade at least part of the recalcitrant COD under aerobic conditions. The screened microbes comprise at least one microbial species selected from the group consisting ofand yeast.
