Systems and methods for combining signals from multiple active wireless receivers are discussed herein. An exemplary system comprises a first downconverter, a phase comparator, a phase adjuster, and a second downconverter. The first downconverter may be configured to downconvert a received signal from a first antenna to an intermediate frequency to create an intermediate frequency signal. The phase comparator may be configured to mix the received signal and a downconverted signal to create a mixed signal, compare a phase of the mixed signal to a predetermined phase, and generate a phase control signal based on the comparison, the downconverted signal being associated with the received signal from the first antenna. The phase adjuster may be configured to alter the phase of the intermediate frequency signal based on the phase control signal. The second downconverter may be configured to downconvert the phase-shifted intermediate frequency signal to create an output signal.

Systems and methods for combining signals from multiple active wireless receivers

An exemplary system comprises a linearizer module, a first upconverter module, a power amplifier module, a signal sampler module, and a downconverter module. The linearizer module may be configured to receive a first intermediate frequency signal and to adjust the first intermediate frequency signal based on a reference signal and a signal based on a second intermediate frequency signal. The first upconverter module may be configured to receive and up-convert a signal based on the adjusted first intermediate frequency signal to a radio frequency signal. The power amplifier module may be configured to receive and amplify a power of a signal based on the radio frequency signal. The signal sampler module may be configured to sample a signal based on the amplified radio frequency signal. The downconverter module may be configured to receive and down-convert a signal based on the sampled radio frequency signal to the second intermediate frequency signal.

Systems and methods for improved power yield and linearization in radio frequency transmitters

Systems and methods for improved chip device performance are discussed herein. An exemplary chip device for use in an integrated circuit comprises a bottom and a top opposite the bottom. The chip device comprises a through-chip device interconnect and a clearance region. The through-chip device interconnect is configured to provide an electrical connection between a ground plane trace on the bottom and a chip device path on the top of the chip device. The clearance region on the bottom of the chip device comprises an electrically conductive substance. The size and shape of the clearance region assist in impedance matching. The chip device path on the top of the chip device may further comprise at least one tuning stub. The size and shape of the at least one tuning stub also assist in impedance matching.

Systems and methods for improved chip device performance

A circulator plate for a microwave radio system is disclosed. The circulator plate includes a circulator including a first port, a second port, and a third port; a first isolator including an input port and an output port; a second isolator including an input port and an output port; and a splitter including an input port, a first output port, and a second output port. The output port of the first isolator is coupled to the first port of the circulator. The input port of the second isolator is coupled to the third port of the circulator. The input port of the splitter is coupled to the output port of the second isolator. The first output port of the splitter is configured to be coupled to a first receiver. The second output port of the splitter is configured to be coupled to a second receiver.

A band-pass filter for a wireless communications signal is provided. The band-pass filter includes a first element and a second element that mates with the first element to form a waveguide. The formed waveguide comprises a first linear segment and a second linear segment coupled by a first angular bend. The band-pass filter further includes an insert plate disposed between the first element and the second element along a direction of propagation of the waveguide. The direction of propagation follows the angular bend in the waveguide. In some embodiments, the band-pass filter is an E-plane filter. In some embodiments, the band-pass septum filter has a shorter length along an x-direction than a straight septum filter with the same performance.

A radio receiver component includes a first antenna line for receiving a first signal and a second antenna line for receiving a second signal. Each of the first signal and the second signal is a respective intermediate frequency (IF) signal produced by down-converting a respective radio frequency (RF) signal received by a respective antenna. The first antenna line includes a demodulator that receives the first signal and down-converts the first signal to produce one or more baseband signals, one or more variable baseband delay paths that delay the one or more baseband signals, a modulator that receives the one or more delayed baseband signals and up-converts the one or more delayed baseband signals to produce a third IF signal. The radio receiver component further includes a combiner that receives and combines the second signal and the third signal to produce a fourth signal.

The method comprises producing a time-varying signal indicative of an amplitude of the envelope of the transmission signal and comparing the time-varying signal to a plurality of distinct threshold voltages. The method further comprises, for each of the plurality of distinct threshold voltages exceeded by the time-varying signal, providing a respective bias voltage to a respective input of a summing device and producing, using the summing device, an output bias voltage that is at least a sum of the respective bias voltages provided to the respective inputs of the summing device. The method further comprises biasing the power amplifier with the output bias voltage and amplifying the transmission signal using the power amplifier biased at the output bias voltage.

The waveguide coupling includes a waveguide plate having a second portion of the first waveguide formed therein; a waveguide spacer having a third portion of the first waveguide formed therein; and a conductive spring circumferentially disposed around the first waveguide in between the waveguide plate and the waveguide spacer.

A digital microwave radio system includes a splitter that splits a common baseband input into two baseband outputs, first and second transmitters, each transmitter electrically connected to a baseband output of the splitter via a mixer, a common local oscillator electrically connected to the mixer of the first transmitter and the mixer of the second transmitter via an adjustable phase shifter, respectively, and a combiner. The common local oscillator is configured to up-convert each baseband output into a radio-frequency signal using a corresponding mixer. The combiner combines the two radio-frequency signals into a 0-degree phase-shift output and a 180-degree phase-shift output, respectively. A phase error control loop adjusts the phase shifter to minimize the 180-degree phase-shift radio-frequency output. A combiner gain control loop adjusts the output power level of the two transmitters in accordance with an actual power detector reading at the 0-degree phase-shift radio-frequency output.

An antenna coupling device is disclosed. The device includes a first isolator that includes an input port and an output port and a first circulator that includes a first port, a second port, and a third port. The first port of the first circulator is coupled with the output port of the first isolator; and the second port of the first circulator is configured for coupling with a first antenna. The device also includes a second isolator that includes an input port and an output port. The input port of the second isolator is coupled with the third port of the first circulator.
