A video controller and method for performing tone-mapping of high-dynamic-range (HDR) video are provided. The video controller includes: a color-space converter, arranged to receive an input high-dynamic-range (HDR) video signal and perform a color space conversion on the input HDR video signal to obtain a first video signal having a first gamma curve; a de-gamma unit, arranged to apply a second gamma curve on the first video signal to compensate the first gamma curve to obtain a second video signal; a first histogram calculator, arranged to calculate a first histogram of a current frame of the second video signal; and a tone-mapping unit, arranged to apply a tone-mapping curve on the current frame of the second video signal according to a histogram of a previous frame of the second video signal to generate an output video signal.

High-dynamic-range video tone mapping

A method of fabricating a transflective display. The method includes providing a first substrate; forming a first electrode thereon; providing a second substrate having a reflective area and a transmissive area opposite to the first substrate; forming a second electrode having a plurality of slits on the second substrate opposite to the first electrode; disposing a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules and monomers between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the monomers have a weight ratio of about 0.1-20%; and polymerizing the monomers to form a plurality of non-liquid crystal polymers adjacent to the first electrode and the second electrode.

Method of fabricating transflective displays

A transflective display. The transflective display includes a first substrate, a first electrode formed thereon, a second substrate having a reflective area and a transmissive area opposite to the first substrate, a second electrode formed on the second substrate opposite to the first electrode, and a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules and polymers disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The invention also provides a method of fabricating the transflective display.

Transflective display and fabrication method thereof

A liquid crystal display panel including a first substrate, a second substrate, scan lines, data lines, pixel unit sets, and a liquid crystal layer is provided. The scan lines, data lines, and pixel unit sets are disposed on the first substrate. A first gap is formed between two adjacent pixel unit sets. Each of the pixel unit sets includes pixel units, and a second main space is formed between two adjacent pixel units. Each of the pixel units includes an active device electrically connected to a scan line and a data line, and a transparent pixel electrode has slits and electrically connected to the active device. The width of the first gap is greater than that of the second gap.

Liquid crystal display panel and liquid crystal display applying the same

A pixel structure of a transflective LCD panel includes a substrate, a data line and a scan, a thin film transistor containing an extending electrode, a first common electrode and a second common electrode, a transmissive pixel electrode, and a reflective pixel electrode forming a first coupling capacitor with the extending electrode and a second coupling capacitor with the second common electrode. The first and second common electrodes and the data line overlap with each other in an overlapping area, wherein the first common electrode is disposed between the second common electrode and the data line.

Transflective LCD panel and pixel structure with first and second overlapping common electrodes disposed in one direction both overlapping data line disposed in a second direction

A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel including an active device array substrate, an opposite substrate and a liquid crystal layer is provided. The active device array substrate includes a substrate, a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of data lines, and a plurality of pixel units. The scan lines, the data lines and the pixel units are disposed on the substrate. Each of the pixel units is electrically connected to one of the scan lines and one of the data lines correspondingly and crosses over two sides of the corresponding scan line. The opposite substrate includes a plurality of alignment protrusions. The alignment protrusions are located over the scan lines. Besides, the liquid crystal layer is disposed between the opposite substrate and the active device array substrate. The above-mentioned liquid crystal display panel has higher aperture ratio.

Liquid crystal display panel

A liquid crystal display panel is provided. The liquid crystal display panel includes an active device array substrate, an opposite substrate, a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of data patterns, a plurality of connecting patterns, a plurality of active devices, a plurality of transparent pixel electrodes, a plurality of common lines, at least one polymer layer, and a liquid crystal layer. The opposite substrate is disposed above the active device array substrate. The scan lines, the data patterns and the connecting patterns are disposed on the active device array substrate, and the data patterns and the connecting patterns form data lines via contact holes. The common lines are disposed between the transparent pixel electrodes and the data lines, and a part of each common line overlaps the corresponding data pattern. The polymer layer is disposed on at least one of the active device array substrate and the opposite substrate.
