A downhole tool for removing debris from a wellbore comprises a mandrel and a shroud disposed around a portion of the mandrel. The mandrel includes at least one mandrel port in fluid communication with a mandrel bore. The shroud includes a cavity and a shroud port. Debris laden fluid is pulled into the shroud cavity by flowing fluid through the mandrel bore, out the mandrel port, into the shroud cavity, and through the shroud port. The debris-laden fluid is pulled into the shroud cavity due to a pressure differential created by the flow of the fluid through the mandrel port and out of the shroud port. As the debris laden fluid flows into the shroud cavity, the debris is captured within the tool.

Anchoring systems for disposition in wellbores and tubular devices comprise a tubular member defined by two or more radially expandable slip members. The upper ends of the slip members are shaped such that when the slip members are in their respective run-in positions and in their respective set positions, a portion of an upper end of one slip member overlaps a portion of an upper end of another slip member so that the longitudinal space between each slip member that is created when the slip members are in their set position are blocked by the upper end of at least one of the slip members. Thus, in their set position, the upper end of at least one of the slip members provides a back-up to a sealing element that can be disposed adjacent to and in contact with the upper ends of the slip members when in their set positions.

A downhole tool for removing debris from fluid flowing through the downhole tool comprises a screen member in sliding engagement with an inner wall surface of the tool. As the screen member becomes blocked, it moves from a first or initial position to a second or actuated position which causes a pressure change detectable at the surface of the wellbore. The pressure change causes the debris blocking fluid flow through the screen member to fall off the screen member thereby allowing an increase in fluid flow through the screen member. As a result, the screen member returns to its initial position and fluid again flows through the screen member for capturing by the screen member.

A downhole tool for moving fluid through the tool comprises a rotatable sleeve disposed within a bore of the tool. The sleeve includes an opened upper end and a closed lower end to define a cavity. A fluid movement profile is disposed along the lower end. A directional port is disposed in the side of the sleeve in fluid communication with the cavity and an upper port disposed in the tool. The upper port can be isolated from a lower port in the tool, the lower port being in fluid communication with the fluid movement profile. A first fluid flowing downward enters the cavity, exits the directional port causing rotation of the sleeve, and flows out the tool through the upper port. Sleeve rotation causes a second fluid to be drawn upward into contact with the fluid movement profile which directs the second fluid out of the lower port.

A downhole tool for removing debris from a wellbore comprises a body having a bore, a collection member, and a means for creating a hydraulic barrier within a wellbore annulus. The hydraulic barrier within the wellbore annulus restricts upward movement of a debris laden fluid within the wellbore annulus causing the debris laden fluid to be directed toward the collection member. Thus, the hydraulic barrier facilitates removal of debris from the wellbore.

Downhole debris removal tool capable of providing a hydraulic barrier and methods of using same

Downhole tools for pumping an acid into a wellbore prior to pumping a fracturing fluid comprise a housing and an actuator member disposed therein. The housing comprises a port that is initially placed in fluid communication with an acid so the acid can be pumped into the wellbore and is then placed in fluid communication with a fracturing fluid so the fracturing fluid can be pumped into the same location within the wellbore. The downhole tool may comprise a chamber having the acid disposed therein. Alternatively, the acid can be part of an acid slug disposed at a leading edge of a fracturing fluid being pumped through the downhole tool.

System and method for pinpoint fracturing initiation using acids in open hole wellbores

A downhole tool for removing debris from fluid flowing through the downhole tool uses a screen member and wiper member, the wiper member having at least one window disposed through the inner and outer wall surfaces of the wiper member. Either the screen member or the wiper member is rotatable such that rotation of the screen member or the wiper member causes debris disposed on the outer wall surface of the screen member to fall-off the screen member. At least one directional port disposed at either the upper end of the screen member or the upper end of the wiper member causes rotation of the screen member or wiper member when fluid flows through the downhole tool.

Apparatuses for restricting fluid flow through a well conduit comprise a tubular member having an inner wall surface defining a bore and a seat in sliding engagement with the inner wall surface. Operatively associated with the seat is a plug element support member having an expanded position when the apparatus is in a run-in position and a contracted position when the apparatus is in a set position. A plug element adapted to be disposed into the bore and landed on the seat to restrict fluid flow through the bore and the well conduit is used to move the seat which in turn moves the plug element support member from the expanded position to the contracted position, thereby providing support to the plug member landed on the seat.

Downhole cutting tools comprise a mandrel, a housing, a sleeve and a cutting blade. The mandrel comprises an inner wall surface defining a bore, and an outer wall surface. The housing is secured to the outer wall surface of the mandrel and comprises an opening. The sleeve is engaged with the outer wall surface of the mandrel. The sleeve comprises a profile that is operatively associated with a profile of the cutting blade such that movement of the sleeve causes the profile of the piston to slide along the profile of the cutting blade. In so doing, the cutting blade is radially extended outward through the opening in the housing to abrade an object located outside the housing. Movement of the sleeve can be achieved by pumping fluid down a bore in the mandrel to slide the sleeve long the outer wall surface of the mandrel.
