An aqueous personal care rinse off composition is provided, comprising: a dermatologically acceptable aqueous vehicle; a dermatologically acceptable cleaning surfactant; and a plurality of composite opacifier particles, wherein the composite opacifier particles comprise metal oxide particles that are partially or completely encapsulated by a wax; wherein the metal oxide particles are selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide, titanium oxide and mixtures thereof; wherein the metal oxide particles have a z average particle size of >100 nm as measured by dynamic light scattering; wherein the wax has a melting point temperature of 50 to 110° C.; and wherein the composite opacifier particles have a z average particle size of >100 nm to 2,000 nm as measured by dynamic light scattering.

A skin cleansing formulation is provided, comprising: a dermatologically acceptable vehicle; a dermatologically acceptable oil; and a deposition aid polymer, wherein the deposition aid polymer is a cationic dextran polymer, comprising a dextran polymer functionalized with quaternary ammonium groups; wherein the deposition aid polymer enhances the deposition of the dermatologically acceptable oil from the skin cleansing formulation onto mammalian skin.

A personal care composition is provided, comprising: a vehicle; a cosmetically acceptable oil; and a cationic polymer comprising structural units of acrylamide monomer; structural units of N,N-dimethyl acrylamide monomer; and structural units of monoethylenically unsaturated monocationic monomer; wherein the cationic polymer comprises <10 mol % structural units of multiethylenically unsaturated cationic monomer; wherein the cationic polymer comprises <30 wt % structural units of ester containing monomers; wherein the cationic polymer comprises <1 mol % structural units of ethylenically unsaturated monomers containing a moiety selected from the group consisting of epoxy, anhydride, imide, lactone, carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid and isocyanate; wherein the cationic polymer comprises <0.1 mol % structural units of a reactive siloxane; and wherein the personal care composition comprises <0.05 wt % water soluble, organic, ampholytic polymer conditioning agent. Provided is a concentrated emulsion and personal care compositions containing the concentrated emulsion. The emulsion comprises: (a) from 60 to 95 wt %, based on the total weight of the emulsion, of an internal phase comprising: (i) a low density polyolefin with a density equal to or below 0.90 g/cm, and (ii) a cosmetically acceptable solvent; (b) from 0.1 to 30 wt %, based on the total weight of the emulsion, of a surfactant; and (c) balance water as a continuous phase.

Concentrated polyolefin emulsions and personal care compositions containing them

The present invention provides personal care formulations containing silicone modified polyolefins and having improved sensory feel, as well as being non-tacky and easily spreadable. The present invention also provides a method for treating body surfaces such as skin, hair, nails, etc., by applying the aforesaid personal care formulations externally to such a surface. The present invention also provides a method for improving the sensory feel of personal care formulations by including one or more silicone modified polyolefins in the formulations.

Silicone modified polyolefins in personal care applications

Described are personal care, preferably skin care compositions, comprising polyolefin blends comprising at least one metallocene catalyzed polyolefin with a density above 0.90 g/cm, at least one metallocene catalyzed polyolefin with a density equal to or below 0.90 g/cm, provided that the average melt index for the polyolefin blend is greater than 7; and a cosmetically acceptable hydrocarbon oil, provided that the composition does not contain ethylene acrylic copolymer.

Described are personal care compositions comprising a polymer comprising: (a) one or more polymer comprising, as polymerized units, (i) 75% to 35% by weight, based on the weight of said polymer, one or more (meth)acrylate monomer selected from at least one of C1-C4 (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylic acid, styrene, or substituted styrene, and (ii) 25% to 65% by weight, based on the weight of said polymer, one or more hydrophobic monomer, including hydrophobically substituted (meth)acrylate monomers, with alkyl chain length from C8 to C22 and, (iii) optionally crosslinker, and, (b) at least one personal care active. Optionally, the polymer further includes a stage 2 polymer comprising, as polymerized units, (i) 10-99% of one or more monomer which has a Tg of more than 80&#xb0; C. after polymer formation, (ii) 1-10% of one or more (meth)acrylate monomer containing acid functional group, and (iii) optionally, a crosslinker.

Water resistant polymers for personal care

Described are personal care compositions comprising a polyacrylate oil gel, comprising: (a) at least one cosmetically acceptable hydrophobic ester oil, and (b) one or more polymers comprising: (i) a first polymerized unit, comprising: (1) 75% to 35% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more (meth)acrylate monomers selected from at least one of C1-C4 (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylic acid, styrene, or substituted styrene, and (2) 25% to 65% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more hydrophobic monomers, including hydrophobically substituted (meth)acrylate monomers, with alkyl chain length from C6 to C22 and, (ii) a second polymerized unit, comprising: (1) 10-99% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more monomers which has a Tg of more than 80&#xb0; C. after polymer formation, (2) 1-10% of one or more (meth)acrylate monomers containing acid functional group, and (iii) optionally, a crosslinker.

Described are skin care compositions comprising an aqueous dispersion comprising a metallocene catalyzed polyolefin, an ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, or a combination thereof.
