Techniques for encoding video with reduced frame-boundary artifacts are presented. The techniques include a video encoding method, where, when skip mode is selected as a motion prediction coding mode for a pixel block predicted from a reference block of a reference frame, estimating an amount of the reference block that extends beyond the edge of the reference frame. If the amount beyond the edge does not exceed a threshold, the prediction may be coded with skip mode. If the amount beyond the edge exceeds a threshold, the pixel block may be partitioned, and the partitioned blocks may be coded with motion prediction.

Frame boundary artifacts removal

Disclosed herein are methods for testing wettability of tight oil reservoir. The method comprises: by using a nuclear magnetic resonance testing method, testing nuclear magnetic resonance maps of the tight oil reservoir in the saturated water state and in the saturated oil state; by using the nuclear magnetic resonance maps, analyzing a water-wetting degree and an oil-wetting degree of the tight oil reservoir; calculating a mixed wettability index of the tight oil reservoir, and estimating the wettability of the tight oil reservoir according to the mixed wettability index. This disclosure can effectively improve testing efficiency, quantitatively analyze the water-wetting degree and the oil-wetting degree of the tight oil reservoir, and improve accuracy of testing results.

Method and device for testing wettability of dense oil reservoir

The present disclosure discloses a core holding system, comprising: a sleeve in which a cavity capable of accommodating a core is formed; an adjustment plug set comprising a plurality of adjustment plugs having grooves of different diameters, wherein any one of the adjustment plugs is dismountably connectable to the sleeve, and when the adjustment plug is mounted on the sleeve, an end of the adjustment plug having the groove is insertable into the sleeve while abutting against the core; a heating module provided to sheathe the sleeve; and a thermal insulation module provided to sheathe the heating module. Before the core is held, the operator may select a matched adjustment plug from the adjustment plug set according to a diameter of a core to be held, so that a diameter of the groove of the adjustment plug is matched with a diameter of an end of the core, thereby ensuring that the end of the core can be engaged in the groove, thus ensuring that the core holding system can stably and tightly engage the core, and preventing the held core from being shifted or loosened.

A method receives physical location information for racks in which application running environments are located. Each rack includes multiple host computing devices in a cluster of host computing devices. Application running environment-rack associations are generated using the physical location information for the cluster where an application running environment-rack association maps an application running environment to a rack. The application running environment-rack associations are provided to the cluster. Then, the method provides a data set for storing in the cluster of hosts where the data set is associated with a placement strategy. The cluster uses the placement strategy to store a data block in the data set for a first application running environment and store a replica data block for a second application running environment at a location in the cluster based on the first application running environment being associated with a first rack from the application running environment-rack associations.

A virtualized computing system for executing a distributed computing application, such as Hadoop, is discussed. The virtualized computing system stores data in a distributed filesystem, such as Hadoop Distributed File System, and processes data using a topology awareness that takes into account the virtualization layer of the virtualized computing system. The virtualized computing system employs locality-related policies, including replica placement policies, replica choosing policies, balancer policies, and task scheduling policies that take advantage of the awareness of the virtualization topology.

Embodiments perform automated provisioning of a cluster for a distributed computing platform. Target host computing devices are selected from a plurality of host computing devices based on configuration information, such as a desired cluster size, a data set, code for processing the data set and, optionally, a placement strategy. One or more virtual machines (VMs) are instantiated on each target host computing device. Each VM is configured to access a virtual disk that is preconfigured with code for executing functionality of the distributed computing platform and serves as a node of the cluster. The data set is stored in a distributed file system accessible by at least a subset of the VMs. The code for processing the data set is provided to at least a subset of the VMs, and execution of the code is initiated to obtain processing results.

A method includes indexing data and/or metadata in online virtual machines (VMs), offline VMs, virtual applications, and/or snapshots thereof on one or more host server(s) in a virtualization environment through a search architecture in the virtualization environment. The online VMs are VMs that are powered on, and the offline VMs are VMs that are powered off. The method also includes maintaining a database of the indexed data and/or metadata in the online VMs, the offline VMs, the virtual applications, and/or the snapshots thereof to enable a comprehensive search result to a search query through the search architecture. The database is associated with the search architecture.

Embodiments monitor application performance metrics representing the performance of a software application executed by one or more host computing devices. Based on the application of rules to the application performance metrics, an elasticity action, such as a power-on action, a power-off action, a deploy action, and/or a destroy action, is determined. The elasticity action is transmitted to one or more target hosts, which perform the elasticity action. The target host may be selected based on host performance metrics. Further, a load balancing service may accommodate the addition of a new software application instance to a cluster and/or the removal of an existing software application instance from the cluster.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for managing access to data in a data storage system. For example, an apparatus comprises at least one processing platform associated with a distributed virtual infrastructure. The processing platform comprises at least one processing device having a processor coupled to a memory. The processing platform is operative to instantiate a meta data management process that is configured to provide at least one client process with information to allow the client process to perform one or more operations in accordance with one or more data storage devices through a storage area network. The information provided to the client process may comprise one or more data block descriptors. Each of the one or more data block descriptors may comprise path information for at least one of the data storage devices and an offset address in the at least one data storage device. The one or more data block descriptors may correspond to one or more data blocks of a given data file that is stored or storable across the one or more data storage devices.

A passive optical network (PON) in accordance with the invention uses a superframe having a number of subframes arranged in a two-dimensional array, wherein for normal data transfer subframes are allocated to each optical network unit (ONU) column by column, left to right, and within each column subframes are allocated from top to the bottom. Initially, for ranging, at least two subframes are allocated to an ONU, adjacent to a diagonal of the superframe (which may go from the top left corner of the superframe to the bottom right corner, or alternatively from the top right corner to the bottom left corner). In some embodiments, instead of allocating subframes column by column, the subframes are evenly spaced apart from one another, and conflicts with a previous allocation are resolved by adjustment, and optionally an evaluation function may be used to find an optimal allocation.
