Accessing a communication channel using disparate communication systems

An apparatus and a method for allocating wireless channels are disclosed. For example, the method, by an aggregator, aggregates sensed information received from a plurality of sensing devices, by an analyzer, analyzes the sensed information that is aggregated and determines when an incumbent is not detected based on the analysis, and allocates, by a channel allocator, a wireless channel of the targeted frequency spectrum to a user equipment when the incumbent is not detected.

A communication circuit arrangement includes a sub sampling circuit configured to obtain wideband signal data including candidate reference sequences from a plurality of carrier channels and to downsample the wideband signal data to shift the candidate reference sequences closer to each other in frequency, a comparison circuit configured to compare the downsampled signal data to a composite detection sequence to detect whether any of the candidate reference sequences match any of a plurality of predefined reference sequences in the composite detection sequence, and a decision circuit configured to determine whether any of the plurality of carrier channels contain an active network based on the detection results.

Methods and devices for user detection in spectrum sharing

A shared spectrum network device in a higher-tier network may include one or more processors configured to receive information provided from a lower-tier network, estimate, based on the information, interference to the higher-tier network from one or more transmitters of the lower-tier network, compare the estimated interference to a threshold value, and identify a geographic zone in which transmission by one or more transmitters of the lower-tier network is limited based on the comparison.

SAS PAL GAA co-channel interference mitigation

A network control system configured to manage radio communication devices for a Spectrum Access System (SAS) shared spectrum wireless network is disclosed. The network control system may include a receiver to receive an estimate of a proximity to a Priority Access License (PAL) radio communication device for a plurality of user terminals. The estimate may be based on measurements of signals transmitted by the PAL radio communication device. The network control system may also include a processor configured to cause a user terminal to be configured to perform measurements based on the estimate of the proximity to the PAL radio communication device. The performed measurements may include an interference measurement indicative of interference to the PAL radio communication device from a General Authorized Access (GAA) radio communication device.
