A multi-domain vertically aligned liquid crystal display (MVA LCD) includes an active component array substrate, an opposite substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The active component array substrate has a plurality of pixel units, and the liquid crystal layer is disposed between the active component array substrate and the opposite substrate. The liquid crystal layer proximal each pixel unit is divided into plural domain sets. Each domain set has plural domains.

Multi-domain vertically aligned liquid crystal display

In a displaying method for use in an image display, an original gray scale is divided into a higher gray scale and a lower gray scale. Further, the color subpixels are divided into two groups corresponding to the higher and lower gray scales, respectively. The gray scale to be expressed by each subpixel is calibrated by weighing the original higher or lower gray scale for the pixel and the adjacent pixels and summing up the results. The color shift problem due to different visual angles can therefore be solved.

Displaying method and image display device

In a display device having a light source and a storage for storing at least one reference frame of image data, a driving method includes receiving a current frame of image data; comparing grey levels between pixels of the current frame of image data and the corresponding pixels of the reference frame of image data; determining a pixel quantity of pixels having different grey levels in the current frame of image data and the reference frame of image data; and based on the determined pixel quantity, calculating and outputting a signal controlling a light emitting duty ratio and an amplitude of the light source while displaying the current frame. The display device further has a comparing unit and light source control unit for performing the driving method.

Liquid crystal display and driving method thereof

A display has plural pixel groups each having plural color pixels. In a given frame that is divided into a first sub-period and a second sub-period, a first signal is provided in the first sub-period to a pixel of a given color in a first pixel group, and a second signal is provided to the pixel in the second sub-period. The first signal is set to one of a first polarity and a second polarity, and the second signal is set to one of the first polarity and second polarity, wherein the first signal and the second signal form a first sequence. A pixel of the given color in a second pixel group that is adjacent the first pixel group is driven with a second sequence of signals that is the same as the first sequence.

Drive system and method for a color display

A liquid crystal display (LCD) including an LCD panel and a driving unit is provided. The LCD panel has a red pixel, a green pixel, and a blue pixel. The driving unit is applied for receiving a red data signal, a green data signal, and a blue data signal, and outputting a red voltage signal, a green voltage signal, and a blue voltage signal for driving the red pixel, the green pixel, and the blue pixel respectively. When the red data signal, the green data signal, and the blue data signal all correspond to a specific gray level, the pixel luminance of the blue pixel is lower than the pixel luminance of the red pixel as well as the pixel luminance of the green pixel.

Liquid crystal display and the driving method thereof

A color display comprises a plurality of first pixel groups and a plurality of second pixel groups. Each first pixel group includes three color pixels and each color pixel has at least two subpixels. Each first pixel group has a first arrangement of subpixels. The first pixel groups and the second pixel groups are alternately disposed in at least one direction. Each second pixel group includes three color pixels and each color pixel has at least two subpixels. Each second pixel group has a second arrangement of subpixels. The second arrangement is different from the first arrangement.
