The present disclosure relates to scalable encoding and decoding of pictures. In particular, a picture is processed by one or more network layers of a trained module to obtain base layer features. Then, enhancement layer features are obtained, e.g. by a trained network processing in sample domain. The base layer features are for use in computer vision processing. The base layer features together with enhancement layer features are for use in picture reconstruction, e.g. for human vision. The base layer features and the enhancement layer features are coded in a respective base layer bitstream and an enhancement layer bitstream. Accordingly, a scalable coding is provided which supports computer vision processing and/or picture reconstruction.

Scalable coding of video and associated features

A video coding mechanism is disclosed. The mechanism includes partitioning an image to create at least one coding tree unit (CTU) with at least one coding tree node. The mechanism further includes determining that the coding tree node height is twice a maximum transform unit (TU) height and the coding tree node width is twice a maximum TU width. The mechanism further includes selecting a split mode for the coding tree node based on the determination. The split mode is selected from a quad-tree split, a horizontal binary-tree split, and no split. The mechanism further includes applying the split mode to the coding tree node to create one or more coding units (CUs). The mechanism further includes encoding the CUs into a bitstream. The mechanism further includes transmitting the bitstream toward a decoder.

Constrained coding tree for video coding

Apparatuses and methods for Intra Sub-Partitions (ISP) are provided. The method includes: obtaining information of ISP, and determining a size of a chroma transform block (TB) of the coding unit based on SubWidthC and SubHeightC when at least a first condition is fulfilled. The first condition includes the information of ISP indicates that ISP is used for splitting the luma coding block. SubWidthC and SubHeightC are variables depending on chroma format information. The chroma format information indicates a chroma format of a picture the coding unit belongs to. The method can apply to all chroma format. The chroma format includes at least one of: 4:2:0, or 4:2:2, or 4:4:4. An accurate and versatile way to determine the size of the chroma transform block for the ISP is achieved.

Method and apparatus for intra sub-partitions coding mode

A video decoding method includes determining a usage of an SVT-vertical (V) or an SVT-horizontal (H) for a residual block; determining a transform block position of a transform block of the residual block; determining a transform type of the transform block, wherein the transform type indicates a horizontal transform and a vertical transform for the transform block, wherein at least one of the horizontal transform or the vertical transform is a discrete sine transform (DST)-7; and reconstructing the residual block based on the transform type, the transform block position, and transform coefficients of the transform block.

Spatially varying transform with adaptive transform type

A deblocking method, for deblocking a transform block boundary within a coding block in an image encoding and/or an image decoding is provided, wherein the coding block comprising transform blocks is coded in inter prediction mode and the transform blocks comprises a first transform block and a second transform block. The method comprises: determining, when the boundary between the first transform block and the second transform block is a transform block boundary and at least one of the first transform block and the second transform block has one or more non-zero transform coefficients, a value of a BS parameter for the boundary between the first transform block and the second transform block to be a first value; and performing de-blocking filtering process to the boundary between the first transform block and the second transform block at least based on the value of the boundary strength parameter.

Encoder, a decoder and corresponding methods of deblocking filter adaptation

A method for inverse quantization of a current block of a picture is provided. The method is performed by a decoder, and the picture comprises a luminance component and a chrominance component, where the luminance component and the chrominance component are partitioned into multiple blocks. The method includes obtaining one or more existing quantization parameter (QP) values from a received bitstream, wherein the one or more existing QP values are associated with a current block in the chrominance component; determining a QP value for the current block in the chrominance component based on the one or more existing QP values; performing inverse quantization on the current block in the chrominance component using the determined QP value.

Apparatus and method for inverse quantization

This application provides a motion vector obtaining method and apparatus. The method includes: determining a target offset vector of a block and identifier information of a target picture, wherein the block comprises at least one sub-block; determining a location of the sub-block; determining, as a target location coordinate value of a collocated sub-block, a location coordinate value obtained by performing a clipping operation on an initial location coordinate value in a range, wherein the initial location coordinate value is based on the location of the sub-block and the target offset vector; and obtaining a motion vector of the sub-block based on a motion vector corresponding to the target location coordinate value. Thus, a range of the target offset vector is limited, so that a quantity of memory read times can be reduced in a process of obtaining the motion vector of the collocated sub-block.

An image prediction method, apparatus, and system, a device, and a storage medium are provided. The method includes: (401) obtaining a split mode of a current node, where the current node is an image block in a coding tree unit in a current image; (402) determining, based on the split mode of the current node and a size of the current node, whether the current node satisfies a first condition; and (403) when it is determined that the current node satisfies the first condition, performing intra prediction on all coding blocks belonging to the current node, to obtain predictors of all the coding blocks belonging to the current node.

Prediction mode determining method and apparatus, encoding device, and decoding device

A video decoding method includes parsing a bitstream to obtain a split mode to transform units (TUs) in a current coding unit (CU). Each of the TUs includes a serial number in a one-to-one correspondence with positions of the TUs in the current CU. A transform coefficient of a luminance transform block of a current TU in the TUs is obtained. A transform type of the luminance transform block of the current TU is obtained based on the split mode and a serial number of the current TU. An inverse transform on the transform coefficient of the luminance transform block of the current TU is performed based on the transform type of the luminance transform block of the current TU to obtain a reconstructed residual of the luminance transform block of the current TU. A reconstructed block of the current CU is obtained based on the reconstructed residual.

Embodiments of this application disclose a picture reconstruction method and apparatus for a video picture. The picture reconstruction method includes: obtaining a prediction mode of a current coding unit, and/or obtaining a prediction partition mode of the current coding unit, where the current coding unit includes a luma coding block and a chroma coding block, and the prediction partition mode is a mode of splitting the current coding unit into prediction blocks or prediction units; obtaining a transform block of the current coding unit based on the prediction partition mode and/or the prediction mode; and generating a reconstructed picture block of the current coding unit based on the transform block. Embodiments of this application disclose an intra prediction method for a video sequence.
