The present invention disclose an occupancy detection device and related system and method for detecting presence of at least one person at or near a table or in a swimming pool with at least one sensor indicating an occupancy status locally with at least one light source and communicating it to at least one mobile device by means of at least one wireless communication method. The occupancy detection device, with the use of at least one sensor, at least one additional status is communicated to at least one mobile device. A plurality of occupancy detectors can be connected in a mesh or a star network and communicate to at least one mobile device by a wireless communication method or combinations of a wired and a wireless communication methods.

A system and method of controlling an electric motor using a motor drive controller are provided. The motor drive controller includes a rectifier configured to convert an AC input voltage to a DC voltage, a DC bus electrically coupled to the rectifier, an inverter electrically coupled to the DC bus and configured to generate an AC voltage to drive the electric motor, and a control unit. The control unit includes a sign calculation module configured to determine a polarity of each phase of a reference current command and a compensation module configured to generate a voltage compensation command signal using one of the determined polarities of the reference current command and a measured current, and one of a measurement of DC bus voltage and a constant DC bus voltage value, the voltage compensation signal compensating the drive controller to neutralize a deadtime effect.

The motor controller is configured to determine a first mode of operation for the motor, based on at least one of a predefined schedule stored by the motor controller and an input signal received by the motor controller from at least one ancillary device. The value of the pump load coefficient does not change substantially due to changes in pump speed and is indicative of a blockage of a drain in a liquid holding tank. A blockage of the drain is detected based at least in part on the calculated pump load coefficient and the operation of the pump is adjusted based on the detected blockage.

Systems and methods for preventing water from freezing within a pump system. A pump motor is positioned inside a pump housing. A temperature sensor and a motor controller are positioned inside a motor controller housing. A user interface (UI) controller is positioned in a UI housing. A UI is integrated into the UI housing. The UI controller receives a freeze protection temperature setting through the UI reflecting a difference between an ambient temperature at the location of the motor controller housing and an outdoor temperature and determines a freeze protection temperature threshold based on the setting. The UI controller also receives an adjusted temperature value from the motor controller based on the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor. The UI controller activates the pump motor when the adjusted temperature is below the freeze protection temperature threshold.

Method and system of limiting current to a motor

Systems and methods of detecting a failure of a permanent magnet synchronous motor system. A current of each phase coil of the motor is monitored. A value indicative of the power of the motor is compared to a threshold value indicative of power during a low power detection period. If the value indicative of the power fails to exceed the threshold value indicative of power for the entire low-power detection period, the system indicates a first error condition. The method also monitors the speed of the motor and indicates a second error condition if the speed of the motor remains below a speed threshold for an entire speed failure detection period. A third error condition is indicated if the current of at least one phase of the motor remains below a phase current threshold for an entire loss of phase detection period.
