A base station of a network operates as a serving cell for a user equipment (UE) and configures the UE to measure channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) from the target cell. The base station determines whether a target cell of the network transmits Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) information and transmits, to the UE, a measurement configuration message indicating the UE is to measure channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) from the target cell, wherein the measurement configuration message does not include SSB information for the target cell but further comprises an indication of whether the target cell transmits SSBs.

Network configuration of CSI-RS based radio resource management

A user equipment (UE) may perform configured to perform layer 1 (L1) measurements and layer 3 (L3) measurements. The UE receives a first configuration for layer 1 (L1) measurements of a resource set comprising a plurality of reference signals (RS) and a second configuration for layer 3 (L3) measurements, the first configuration including periodic measurement occasions and a reporting periodicity for transmitting measurement reports comprising the L1 measurements, determines the L3 measurements collide with at least one of the plurality of RSs for the L1 measurements, wherein the colliding causes a determination of the L1 measurements to be muted for the at least one RS during at least one of the measurement occasions and alters at least a first measurement report so that the L1 measurements that collide with the L3 measurements are not reported in at least one reporting periodicity.

Measurement enhancement for L1-RSRP

A user equipment (UE) is served by a serving cell of a network and is configured to measure channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) from a target cell. The UE receives, from the serving cell, a measurement configuration message indicating the UE is to measure CSI-RS from a target cell of the network, wherein the measurement configuration message does not include Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) information for the target cell but further comprises an indication of whether the target cell transmits SSBs. The UE determines, based on at least the measurement configuration message, a time and frequency resource on which the CSI-RS of the target cell are to be transmitted and measures the CSI-RS of the target cell.

User equipment timing synchronization for CSI-RS based radio resource management

A user equipment (UE) may be configured to perform layer 1 (L1) measurement procedures and layer 3 (L3) measurement procedures. The UE configures a channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) layer 3 (L3) measurement window, identifies a collision between a layer 1 (L1) measurement operation and a L3 measurement operation and omits at least one L1 measurement in response to identifying the collision.

Layer 1 and layer 3 measurement coordination

Aspects are described for a user equipment (UE) comprising a transceiver configured to enable wireless communication with a serving cell and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The processor is configured to determine a reference signal sequence that comprises a primary synchronization signal (PSS) sequence and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) sequence of a target cell. The processor is further configured to receive a signal sequence from the target cell and calculate an overall correlation value based on the reference signal sequence and the received signal sequence. The processor is further configured to determine that the overall correlation value is above a threshold and detect a synchronization signal block (SSB) of the target cell based on the received signal sequence. Finally, the processor is configured to establish a wireless connection with the target cell based on the SSB.

Joint detection for primary synchronization signal (PSS) and other synchronization signal symbols in target cell search

The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for matrix compensation to prevent rank deficiency. In some aspects, a channel matrix is formed based on channel feedback matrices that are received from multiple devices. The channel matrix is transformed to provide a channel covariance matrix, which is then decomposed into a unitary matrix and Eigen value matrix components. Diagonal values of the Eigen value matrix are increased to provide a compensated Eigen value matrix. Based on the compensated Eigen value matrix, a steering matrix is determined for steering transmissions through the channel to the multiple devices. By compensating the Eigen value matrix, rank deficiency issues that typically result in failed steering matrix calculations can be prevented. Alternately or additionally, a dynamic range of the steering matrix calculations may be reduced by compensating matrices, enabling steering matrices to be calculated with less-complex or fewer hardware resources.

Methods and apparatus for matrix compensation to prevent rank deficiency

The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for singular value decomposition with norm sorting. In some aspects, a sounding frame is received through a channel of a wireless medium. Based on the sounding frame, a channel covariance matrix describing conditions of the channel can be determined. The channel covariance matrix is then decomposed, with an ortho-normal matrix, to provide an intermediate matrix of vectors. One or more vectors of the intermediate matrix are sorted based on a respective norm to provide a norm-sorted matrix of the vectors. A steering matrix for the channel is then generated by ortho-normalizing at least two vectors of the norm-sorted matrix. By so doing, a steering matrix can be generated quickly and efficiently for use in subsequent communication operations.

Methods and apparatus for singular value decomposition with norm sorting

Systems and methods are provided for precoding a signal at a transmitter. A plurality of receiver devices is identified, and a first receiver device is selected from the plurality of receiver devices. The transmitter communicates with the first receiver device over a channel, and an estimate of the channel is determined. A precoding matrix is computed based on the estimate, such that when the transmitter transmits a signal that is precoded with the precoding matrix over the channel, interference from a second receiver device of the plurality of receiver devices over the channel is reduced.

A method for processing a preamble of a data unit received via a communication channel, wherein the preamble includes a first preamble field having a plurality of repetitions of a sequence, includes generating a cross-correlation output signal at least in part by correlating (i) a signal corresponding to the first preamble field of a received data unit with (ii) one or more repetitions of the sequence. The method also includes generating a correlation output signal at least in part by performing a correlation operation on the cross-correlation output signal, and, based at least in part on the correlation output signal, detecting the received data unit and/or determining timing associated with the received data unit.

In a receive system, a plurality of correlators correlate a received signal with a plurality of delayed versions of a reference signal to generate a plurality of correlator outputs. A timing error detector estimates an optimal timing based on a set of correlator outputs, and determines a timing error based on (i) the estimated optimal correlation point and (ii) an existing timing, such that the timing error is hard or soft limited between two positive thresholds and two negative thresholds.

In a code tracking loop, a multipath discriminator is configured to generate a first tracking error corresponding to a received signal in the presence of multipath interference and/or at low signal level.
