The present specification relates to an automatic cleaner. The automatic cleaner, according to one aspect, comprises: a casing having an inlet port; a suction device which is installed inside the casing and sucks external foreign substances through the inlet port; a moving device for moving the casing; and a side brush assembly movably installed at the casing, wherein the side brush assembly comprises: a movable member which is provided so as to be movable in the casing and protrudes outside of the casing; a side brush provided so as to be rotatable at the movable member; a hinge shaft for enabling the rotation of the movable member; and an elastic member for supporting the hinge shaft or the movable member.

Disclosed are a robot cleaner capable of performing a cleaning operation by selecting a cleaning algorithm suitable for the peripheral circumstances based on an analysis result of captured image information, and a controlling method thereof. Disclosed are a robot cleaner and a method for controlling the same. The robot cleaner is capable of recognizing a position thereof by extracting one or more feature points having 2D coordinates information with respect to each of a plurality of images, by matching the feature points with each other, and then by creating a matching point having 3D coordinates information. Matching points having 3D coordinates information are created to recognize a position of the robot cleaner, and the recognized position is verified based on a moving distance measured by using a sensor. This may allow a position of the robot cleaner to be precisely recognized, and allow the robot cleaner to perform a cleaning operation or a running operation by interworking the precisely recognized position with a map.

Robot cleaner and controlling method of the same

Disclosed are a robot cleaner and a method for controlling the same. A plurality of images are detected through an image detecting unit such as an upper camera, and two or more feature points are extracted from the plurality of images. Then, a feature point set consisting of the feature points is created, and the feature points included in the feature point set are matched with each other. This may allow the robot cleaner to precisely recognize a position thereof. Furthermore, this may allow the robot cleaner to perform a cleaning operation or a running operation by interworking a precisely recognized position with a map.

Robot cleaner and remote monitoring system using the same

Disclosed are a mobile robot and a controlling method of the same. The mobile robot is capable of reducing a position recognition error and performing a precise position recognition even in the occurrence of a change of external illumination, through geometric constraints, when recognizing its position with using a low quality camera (e.g., camera having a low resolution). Furthermore, feature points may be extracted from images detected with using a low quality camera, and the feature points may be robustly matched with each other even in the occurrence of a change of external illumination, through geometric constraints due to the feature lines. This may enhance the performance of the conventional method for recognizing a position based on a camera susceptible to a illumination change, and improve the efficiency of a system.

Control of mobile robot by detecting line intersections

A robot cleaner and a method for controlling the same are provided. A region to be cleaned may be divided into a plurality of sectors based on detection data collected by a detecting device, and a partial map for each sector may be generated. A full map of the cleaning region may then be generated based on a position of a partial map with respect to each sector, and a topological relationship between the partial maps. Based on the full map, the robot cleaner may recognize its position, allowing the entire region to be completely cleaned, and allowing the robot cleaner to rapidly move to sectors that have not yet been cleaned.
