Composite of non-polar organic polymer, polar organic polymer, and ultra-low-wettability carbon black

The present disclosure provides a composition. The composition includes a silane functionalized polyolefin; a flame retardant; and a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) having a Mw greater than 5,000 Dalton. The present disclosure also provides a coated conductor. The coated conductor includes a conductor and a coating on the conductor, the coating including a composition. The coating composition includes a silane functionalized polyolefin; a flame retardant; and a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) having a Mw greater than 5,000 Dalton.

An insulation or jacket layer for a coated conductor is composed of (A) a crosslinked silane-functional polyolefin, (B) a filler composed of greater than 50 wt % silica, based on the total weight of the filler, (C) a silicone-containing polymer selected from the group consisting of reactive linear silicone-containing polymers, non-reactive linear silicone-containing polymers, and non-reactive branched silicone-containing polymers, and (D) from 0.00 wt % to 20 wt % of a silanol condensation catalyst, based on the total weight of the insulation or jacket layer.

Moisture curable composition for wire and cable insulation and jacket layers

A rubberless, strippable, semiconducting composition that includes an ethylene-(carboxylic ester) copolymer having a low comonomeric unit content, carbon black, and a strippability additive combination comprising an amide wax and a silicone oil. Articles made from a moisture-crosslinkable, polymeric composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 10 to 99.99 wt % of a nonpolar ethylenic polymer grafted with silane functionality (Si-g-npPE), the npPE having the following properties before grafting: (1) a vinyl content of 0.2 to 0.7 per 1,000 carbon atoms, (2) a melt index of 1.5 to 7.0 dg/min, (3) a density of 0.913 to 0.965 g/cc, and (4) a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of equal to or less than 8; (B) 0.01 to 20 wt % of a silanol condensation catalyst; and (C) 0 to 70 wt % of a flame retardant additive; exhibit one or more of desirable (a) silane grafting efficiency; (b) hot creep performance as a cable jacket/insulation after moisture crosslinking; (c) retained dielectric strength after glancing impact as a moisture crosslinked cable construction; and (d) crush resistance as a moisture crosslinked cable construction.

Moisture-cured wire and cable constructions

An insulation or jacket layer for a coated conductor is composed of (A) a crosslinked silane-functionalized polyolefin, (B) a filler, (C) a reactive branched polysiloxane, and (D) from 0.00 wt % to 20 wt % of a silanol condensation catalyst.

Flooding compounds for telecommunications cables. Such flooding compounds contain a polyolefin elastomer and a hydrocarbon oil. The polyolefin elastomer has a crystallinity ranging from 10 less than 50 weight percent and a dynamic viscosity of 50,000 centipoise or less at 177&#xb0; C. The hydrocarbon oil has a kinematic viscosity of 200 centistokes or less at 40&#xb0; C.

Flooding compounds for telecommunication cables

A composition for use in jacketing or insulation materials that has from 42 to 54 percent by weight of a halogen-free flame retardant, from 26 to 46 percent by weight of an ethylene alkyl acrylate copolymer, such as ethylene ethyl acrylate, optionally from 0 to 15 percent by weight of an ethylene-based polymer, optionally from 0 to 12 percent by weight of a coupling agent, and optionally from 0 to 1 percent by weight of an antioxidant. A cable insulation layer, a cable protective outer jacket, a cable core sheath, and cable may include the jacketing material composition.

Halogen-free flame retardant compositions with improved tensile properties

Flooding compounds for telecommunications cables. Such flooding compounds contain a polymeric filler and a branched olefinic fluid. The branched olefinic fluid has an average of at least 1.5 methine carbons per oligomer molecule and at least 40 methine carbons per one thousand total carbons. Additionally, the average number of carbons per molecule in the branched olefinic fluid is from 25 to 200.
