Antenna beam sweeping according to the present disclosure involves different communication devices that are within an interference range of each other transmitting beam sweeping signals using different communication resources. This allows a receiver to distinguish between beam sweeping signals that are received from different transmitters, and may facilitate antenna beam alignment in multi-connection scenarios. Beam indices could be used to identify antenna beams for antenna beam management, in control signaling between base stations and User Equipment (UE), for example. Beam tracking and other aspects of antenna beam management are also disclosed.

Antenna beam management for multi-connection communications

Sparse reference signal-related signaling, for a wireless channel that is associated with multiple antenna ports, is communicated with a User Equipment (UE). The sparse reference signal-related signaling is consistent with a sparse signaling pattern. In an embodiment, the sparse signaling pattern includes reference signal-related signaling associated with each of the antenna ports, and has been determined based on previous reference signal-related signaling previously communicated with the UE or another UE. In another embodiment, the sparse reference signal-related signaling is consistent with a varying sparse signaling pattern that is based on previous reference signal-related signaling previously communicated with the UE or another UE.

Sparse reference signal-related signaling apparatus and methods

Systems and methods of transmitting and receiving combined uplink control information (UCI) in respect of downlink assignments are provided. The UE is configured to combine certain UCI based on a property of downlink assignment, such as PDCCH ID, beam information, CORESET. The UE may also be configured to determine which UCI having the same value of the property of downlink assignment to combine. This can be based on a value-specific monitoring window or a monitoring window that is common to multiple values of the assignment property.

System and method for reporting in respect of multiple downlink assignments from multiple transmit receive points

Network equipment receives, from a User Equipment (UE), an indication that the network equipment is to transition to sparse reference signaling for the UE, and the network equipment then transmits the sparse reference signaling to the UE. The sparse reference signaling is consistent with a sparse signaling pattern, which is determined at the UE based on previous reference signaling previously transmitted to the UE or another UE. At a UE, the sparse reference signaling is received from network equipment, and channel measurement and prediction are performed based on the received sparse reference signaling.

Reference signaling overhead reduction apparatus and methods

Methods and devices for assigning sounding reference signals (SRS) resources to UEs in a wireless communication network are provided. Configuration information is sent to a UE, the configuration information pertaining to a first sequence identifier (ID) to be used by the UE to generate a plurality of SRS sequences to be sent by the UE as at least part of a first SRS. Each SRS sequence of the plurality of SRS sequences is a function of a respective SRS sequence root that is a function of the first sequence ID. The first sequence ID may be a UE-specific sequence ID that is a function of a UE-specific ID associated with the UE, such as a Cell-Radio Network Temporary Identifier (C-RNTI).

Sounding reference signal design

User Equipment (UE) mobility in Ultra Dense Networks (UDNs) is based on communication signal layers, which could include respective data streams in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) domain, a code domain using respective codebooks, and/or a spatial domain, for example. A UE uses candidate layer decoding parameters in applying layer-based decoding to communication signals that it received from network nodes. Layers could be allocated to UEs and transition between network nodes as UEs move between different network service areas. Layers could instead be allocated to network nodes. Layer-based decoding provides for UE mobility without requiring explicit handover processing every time a UE moves between different service areas.

Mobility handling in Ultra Dense Networks

Network equipment receives, from User Equipment (UE), information indicative of each of multiple UE locations in a wireless communication network. For each location, a respective antenna beam direction for communications between the network equipment and a UE at each location is determined. A Machine Learning (ML) module is trained using each location as an ML module input and the respective antenna beam direction for each location as an ML module output. The trained ML module is then used to provide beam predictions based on UE location. Based on the current location of a UE, one or more antenna beam directions for communications between the network equipment and the UE at the current location are obtained from the ML module. The UE location is input to the ML module, and the antenna beam direction(s) are then obtained from the ML module output(s).

Location-based beam prediction using machine learning

A method in a user equipment (UE), involves configuring an artificial intelligence (AI) module in a UE to perform at least one task for wireless communications and then performing the task using the configured AI module. The AI module may be on a SIM card inserted into the UE, or part of an internal software implementation. Configuring the AI module can be based on default parameters stored in the UE, or based on signalling received from a network.

Systems and methods for signaling for AI use by mobile stations in wireless networks

Corrected User Equipment (UE) positioning is based at least in part on signaling that is associated with UE inertial measurements. Such measurements are used in some embodiments to track UE locations along trajectories of UE movement and develop or obtain a model to subsequently predict UE positioning corrections based on channel estimates of a wireless channel. For example, reference signaling may be transmitted by a UE, and the UE then receives positioning corrections or corrected positioning in response to the reference signaling.

User equipment positioning apparatus and methods

A method operating an access node includes determining a sequence of resource locations of a reference signal in accordance with resource identifying information and network identifying information, wherein at least a subset of resource locations in the sequence of resource locations changes, and sending, by the access node, the reference signal in accordance with the sequence of resource locations.

System and method for configuring measurement gaps and reference signals

Systems and methods are provided for transmit signalling to configure a UE with a UE specific root to use in generating a Zhadoff Chu (ZC) sequence for reference signal transmission. With conventional LTE, a cell specific root is used within each cell. There is a need for a more flexible association between roots and UEs that, for example, allows for multiple roots to be associated with a cell. The provided approach may help with maintaining re-use distance as networks become denser. The method provided in this embodiment improves the capabilities of automatic driving and ADAS of electric vehicles. The method can be applied to vehicle networking, such as V2X, LTE-V, V2X, etc.
