A computer-implemented method includes positioning a sliding window over a string of data and calculating a hash value using a rolling hash function for data encompassed by the sliding window. The method includes determining whether the calculated hash value for the data encompassed by the sliding window matches the value of an element in a cut point candidate (CPC) array by comparing the calculated hash value to the value of a first element in the CPC array. In response to the calculated hash value being equal to the value of the first element in the CPC array, the method includes defining an index of the sliding window as the cutting point for a data block.

Fixed chunk size deduplication with variable-size chunking

A computer-implemented method, according to one embodiment, includes: sending one or more instructions to a web crawler to identify presentation videos on the internet and capture video data therefrom. In response, video data which corresponds to various presentation videos on the internet is received from the web crawler. The video data is used to define influence factors, such that different combinations of the influence factors represent different conditions of a presenter in the presentation videos. The video data is also used to define labels, where different combinations of the labels represent different conditions of one or more audience members in the presentation videos. Furthermore, structured data is generated by correlating certain presenter conditions with certain audience conditions, and the structured data is stored in memory.

Interactive virtual simulation system

A method for recovering modified data lost from cache includes maintaining, in a cache of a primary storage system, a destage data structure indicating which modified data in the cache has been destaged. The method further maintains, in cache of a secondary storage system, a change recording data structure indicating which modified data has been replicated from the primary storage system to the secondary storage system. The method further merges the destage data structure with the change recording data structure to yield an updated change recording data structure. In the event modified data in the cache of the primary storage system is lost, the method utilizes the updated change recording data structure to determine which modified data in the secondary storage system is needed to restore the modified data lost from cache at the primary storage system. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.

Restoring data lost from battery-backed cache

This disclosure relates to a method, a system and a computer program product for tracking heat values. The method includes monitoring a first number of access operations to first data in each of a plurality of first source storage units during a cycle. The method further includes, for each of the plurality of first source storage units, calculating a first heat value based on the first number of access operations. Additionally, the method includes, in response to source data being moved from one of the first source storage units to a first target storage unit during the cycle, decreasing a calculated heat value of the one first source storage unit by a first value and increasing a calculated heat value of the first target storage unit by the first value.

In operation, a request to access a data segment is received. In response, whether the data segment is stored in a compressed format is determined. In an approach for managing a storage system, distribution of storage volumes among a plurality of storage controller groups may be adjusted dynamically or adaptively based on the current access hot degrees of respective storage volumes in the storage system. In this way, optimized distribution of storage volumes can be achieved without user interference. Such redistribution eliminates the degradation of performance of the storage system.
