Embodiments of the invention relate to an apparatus comprising a housing having a substantially rectangular shape and including a top side, a bottom side, and a slot that passes from the top side to the bottom side of the housing to secure a mobile input device in an upright configuration. The apparatus further includes an energy storage device disposed within the housing to charge the mobile input device. The energy storage device may charge the mobile input device by inductive charging or hardwire (e.g., via a retractable cable). The slot can include a coating or covering to increase a coefficient between the slot and the mobile input device. The slot can be disposed in the long end of the housing and can support the mobile input device in either a portrait or landscape upright configuration, from either the top end or the bottom end.

In certain embodiments of the present invention, a portable electronic device support comprises a base, a frame, and a rotational mechanism, with the base including a front and a rear panel. The rotational mechanism is attached to the frame at a position offset from the center so that substantially the same viewing angle can be maintained after rotation from landscape to portrait orientation.

In some embodiments, a cover for a mobile electronic device includes a rectangular housing with a sleeve formed in a front side of the housing, the sleeve operable to receive the mobile electronic device, and a slot formed in a top side of the housing and spanning at least a portion of a distance from a left side to a right side of the housing. The slot may receive and support the mobile electronic device in an upright configuration and at an angle relative to the housing. The housing may be comprised of a rigid material covered with a soft material including one of a neoprene, cloth, or polypropylene material. The slot may include a first ring insert surrounding an opening of the slot, and the sleeve may include a second ring insert surrounding the opening of the sleeve.
