This application provides a communication method. In the method, a first node receives a first radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message from a first donor node through a second node. After the first node receives the first RRC reconfiguration message from the second node, the first node receives first indication information from the second node. When the first node determines, based on the first indication information, that the first RRC reconfiguration message becomes effective, the first node establishes an RRC connection to a second donor node based on the first RRC reconfiguration message. In the method, the first node and the second node are nodes in a group that performs group handover, the group handover is a cross-donor node group handover, the second node is a head node or the second node is connected to a head node, and the second node is a parent node of the first node.

Communication method applied to integrated access and backhaul IAB system and communication apparatus

A first node sends, after determining that all data packets from a migrating IAB node are received, first indication information to a source IAB donor CU. The first node is an upstream IAB node of a source parent node of the migrating IAB node or is a source IAB donor DU, the source IAB donor CU is an IAB donor CU connected to the migrating IAB node before migration, and the source IAB donor DU is an IAB donor DU connected to the migrating IAB node before the migration. In one example method, a first device determines to manage a first radio link control (RLC) bearer on a wireless backhaul link between a first backhaul node and a second device, where the second device is a parent node of the first backhaul node, the first device is a centralized unit (CU) of a donor base station, and the second device is a distributed unit (DU) of the donor base station; the second device is a second backhaul node, and the first device is a donor base station; or the first device is a CU of a donor base station, and the second device is a second backhaul node. A communication method includes a first IAB node receives a first message from a CU of an IAB donor, where the first message indicates the first IAB node to be handed over from a first parent node to a second parent node, and the first message includes a first IP address of the first IAB node.
