A wavelength converter may include a phosphor layer and a filter layer where the filter layer may be directly attached to the phosphor layer. The wavelength converter may have an overall thickness ranging from 20 μm to 80 μm. A light emitting device assembly and methods for preparing a wavelength converter and methods for preparing a light emitting device assembly are also disclosed.

Method to reduce darkening in phosphor in glass (PIG) made by SPS

Wavelength converters including coarse particles/grains of a red nitride phosphor are disclosed. In some embodiments the red nitride phosphor is a (Ca,Sr,Ba)SiN:Eu phosphor with a D50 grain size or a D50 particle size that is &#x2265;5 microns. The red nitride phosphor may be encapsulated within an organic matrix or present in an inorganic matrix. In the latter case, the inorganic matrix may include fine grains with a D50 grain size &#x3c;5 microns. Methods of making such wavelength converters and devices including such wavelength converters are also described.

Stable red ceramic phosphors and technologies including the same

Methods for producing wavelength converters are described. The methods include sintering a mixture consisting essentially of first particles and second particles to form a sintered article. In embodiments the first particles consist essentially of particles of &#x3b2;-SiAlON or precursors thereof, and the second particles consist essentially one or more sintering aids or precursors thereof. In embodiments the sintered article has a density that is greater than or equal to about 90% of a theoretical bulk density of the mixture, and is configured to convert primary light incident thereon to secondary light, wherein the secondary light exhibits a peak with a full width half maximum of greater than 0 to about 60 nanometers (nm) within a wavelength range of about 495 nm to about 600 nm.

In one embodiment, an optoelectronic component includes a semiconductor chip, which is able to emit radiation. A conversion element comprises at least one wavelength converting phosphor dispersed in a matrix material. The matrix material is a low-melting phosphate glass and water resistant. The optoelectronic component emits in operation warm white light.

Optoelectronic component and a method for producing an optoelectronic component

A wavelength-conversion plate is described herein. The wavelength conversion plate may include a converter of a first ceramic material and a reflector of a second ceramic material. The first ceramic material converts the primary light emitted by a light source such as a light emitting diode (LED) into a secondary light and the second ceramic material reflects the secondary light emitted by said converter. Preferably, the converter is inlaid into the reflector so that the reflector surrounds an outer edge of the converter. Such a configuration has an advantage of reducing unwanted side emissions from the converter.

Ceramic wavelength-conversion plates and light sources including the same

There is herein described a phosphor for use in LED applications and particularly in phosphor-conversion LEDs (pc-LEDs). The phosphor has a composition represented by (YCe)(AlSc)Owherein 0&#x3c;x&#x2266;0.04 and 0&#x3c;y&#x2266;0.6 and can be as applied to an LED as a transparent sintered ceramic or used in a powder form. By adjusting the composition of the phosphor, the phosphor can be made to emit light in the green to yellow regions of the visible spectrum upon excitation by a blue-emitting InGaN LED.

There is herein described a phosphor for use in white pc-LED applications. The phosphor has a composition represented by (YGdCe)(AlSc)Owherein 0&#x3c;x&#x2266;0.3, 0&#x3c;y&#x2266;0.04 and 0&#x3c;z&#x2266;0.3. White pc-LEDs containing the phosphor exhibit less sensitivity to variations in the blue emission of LED dies than pc-LEDs containing conventional YAG:Ce and YGdAG:Ce phosphors. The phosphor may used in multiple pc-LED configurations including as a sintered ceramic converter or applied as a powder dispersed in a silicone encapsulant.

There is herein described a phosphor composition for converting the light emitted from LED dies. The phosphor composition has an emission dominant wavelength responsive to an excitation dominant wavelength. The phosphor composition includes a first phosphor, a second phosphor and a third phosphor. The phosphor composition has a first weight ratio of the first phosphor and the second phosphor, and a second weight ratio of the second phosphor and the third phosphor. The first and second weight ratios are arranged so that the emission dominant wavelength increases as the excitation dominant wavelength increases.

There is described a brazing alloy having a first component comprising a source of molybdenum and a source of aluminum and a second component comprising boron, wherein a weight ratio of said second component to said first component is not greater than 1:20.
