Implementations relate to determination and display of estimated hold durations for calls. In some implementations, a computer-implemented method includes obtaining an identifier of a target entity, the identifier usable by a first call device to initiate a call between the first call device and the target entity. A hold duration is determined that is an estimated amount of time before the call is matched to a human agent when the call is initiated at a particular time that is prospective to a current time. The hold duration is determined based on previous calls between one or more call devices and the target entity. The hold duration is provided for display by the first call device prior to the initiation of the call between the first call device and the target entity.

The present disclosure generally relates to magnetic recording devices with stable magnetization. The magnetic recording device comprises a lower leading shield, an upper leading shield disposed on the lower leading shield, a main pole disposed above the upper leading shield, a trailing shield disposed above the main pole and upper leading shield, and an upper return pole disposed above the trailing shield. A first non-magnetic layer is disposed between the lower leading shield and the upper leading shield, and a second non-magnetic layer is disposed between the trailing shield and the upper return pole. The lower leading shield has a different domain state than the upper leading shield, and the trailing shield and the upper leading shield have a same domain state. The materials and thickness of the first and second non-magnetic layers result in magnetostatic coupling or anti-ferromagnetic coupling.

A method, system, and medium are provided for using social information to determine influencers amongst a group of subscribers subscribing to services offered by a wireless-service carrier. A group of subscribers is identified, and a level of social-connectedness for each subscriber is determined based on cliques shared by pairs of subscribers and common friends shared by pairs of subscribers. An overall influence score is generated for each subscriber based on the level of social-connectedness. A set of subscribers is identified as having high influence scores; the set of subscribers comprises influencers. Incentives are provided to the set of subscribers.

A magnetic write apparatus has a media-facing surface (MFS), a pole having leading and trailing surfaces, a trailing shield having a pole-facing surface, a write gap and coil(s). The pole's trailing surface has a portion adjoining the MFS and oriented at a nonzero, acute bevel angle from a direction perpendicular to the MFS. The pole-facing surface includes a first portion adjoining the MFS and oriented at a first angle substantially the same as the bevel angle, a second portion oriented at a second angle greater than the first trailing shield angle, and a third portion oriented at a third angle substantially the same as the first angle. The write gap has first, second and third thicknesses adjacent to the first, second and third portions of the pole-facing surface, respectively. The first thickness is constant. The second thickness varies. The third thickness is constant and greater than the first thickness.

A heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) write apparatus has a media-facing surface (MFS) and is coupled with a laser that provides energy. The HAMR write apparatus includes a waveguide, a near-field transducer (NFT), a pole and coil(s) for energizing the pole. The waveguide is optically coupled with the laser and directs a first portion of the energy toward the MFS. The NFT is optically coupled with the waveguide. The pole writes to a region of the media and includes a pole tip. A first portion of the pole tip is at the MFS and is separated from the NFT in a down track direction. A second portion of the pole tip is recessed from the MFS and between the first portion and the NFT.

A shingle magnetic write apparatus is described. The shingle magnetic write apparatus includes a pole, a side gap, a write gap, a top shield and side shield(s). The pole has a pole tip region including a top wider than a bottom, and sides. The sides are at a sidewall angle from a down track direction. The write gap is adjacent to the pole top and between the top shield and the pole top. The side shield(s) are magnetically connected with the top shield and extend past the bottom of the pole. The side gap is between the side shield(s) and the pole. The side shield(s) have pole-facing surface(s) not more than a side shield angle from the down track direction. The side shield angle is less than the sidewall angle. The side gap width increases from the top near the gap to the bottom near the bottom of the pole.

A magnetic write apparatus has a media-facing surface (MFS), a pole, a trailing shield, coil(s) and a write gap between the pole and trailing shield. The pole includes leading and trailing surfaces, a main portion having a first bevel and an additional portion having a second bevel and adjoining the main portion. The first bevel adjoins the MFS and is at a nonzero, acute first bevel angle from a direction perpendicular to the MFS. The second bevel is recessed from the MFS by not more than eighty nanometers, oriented at a second bevel angle from the direction and offset from the first bevel by a taper having a taper angle that is greater than the first bevel angle. The additional portion is at least ten nanometers and not more than sixty nanometers thick as measured from the first bevel.

A device includes an array of optical transmitters having first and second temperature sensors each disposed at or near a first and second end of the array of the transmitters. The device includes a controller in communication with the temperature sensors and the transmitters. The controller receives temperature measurements from the temperatures sensors and determines a temperature difference between a first temperature measurement of the first temperature sensor and a second temperature measurement of the second temperature sensor. The controller determines a compensation for each transmitter within the transmitter array based on the temperature difference and a transmitter position within the array of transmitters. The compensation causes the corresponding transmitter to transmit at a wavelength associated with that transmitter. The controller executes the compensations for the transmitters.

A method of operating a data processing system to infer demographic information for a user of a wireless communication device comprises processing a plurality of call detail records (CDRs) to generate a plurality of call graphs having different time slices based on time ranges when data in the CDRs was collected, wherein the call graphs comprise nodes that represent individual callers and edges between the nodes that represent bi-directional communication between the individual callers. The method further comprises identifying neighbors of the user that have a high likelihood of sharing a common demographic attribute with the user based on communication features and structural features among the neighbors on one of the call graphs. The method further comprises identifying a most similar neighbor among the neighbors of the user that has a highest likelihood of sharing the common demographic attribute with the user.
