A data clustering method, a data clustering device using the same, and an image processing apparatus and a data processing apparatus equipped with the data clustering device are provided. The method includes sorting a plurality of data point to be clustered and generating a processing sequence based on the sorting, wherein each of the data point has at least one feature value. The method also includes using a non-iterative mechanism to cluster the data points into a plurality of data clusters according to the processing sequence. The method further includes optimizing the generated data clusters. Accordingly, the data clustering method can fast cluster the data points.

Data clustering method and device, data processing apparatus and image processing apparatus

A method and a system for lane departure warning are provided. The method is as follows. An original image is segmented into a plurality of regional images. Next, characteristics of each regional image are analyzed, and accordingly non-lane line regions are removed from the regional images, so as to obtain a plurality of lane line candidates. Then, a plurality of lane lines are determined from the lane line candidates according to a location of each lane line candidate in the original image. Finally, the lane lines are distinguished into left lane lines and right lane lines, and a variation of an angle between each left lane line and a horizontal line and a variation of an angle between each right lane line and the horizontal line are analyzed, so as to judge whether a vehicle departs from a lane and send a lane departure warning.

An apparatus and a method for fast foreground detection are provided. A foreground characteristic value calculation module calculates a foreground characteristic value by using an image intensity of each pixel in a target image and a background intensity of a corresponding pixel in a background model. A first filter determines a first threshold and a second threshold according to at least one scenic factor for capturing the target image and filters out non-foreground pixels having their foreground characteristic value between the first threshold and the second threshold from pixels in the target image. A second filter determines an image difference condition and a chroma similarity condition according to the scenic factor and filters out non-foreground pixels having their foreground characteristic value satisfying the image difference condition and the chroma similarity condition from pixels left by the first filter. Pixels left by the second filter are served as foreground pixels.

Apparatus and method for foreground detection

An image processing method and an image processing system using a regionalized architecture are provided. In the method, a plurality of neighborhood pixels having at least one similarity characteristic in an image are classified into a group region having the same characteristics. Then, a unique group mark is assigned to each of the group regions, a regionalized chain code is used to describe an edge of each group region, such that subsequent image processing procedures can be applied to the neighborhood pixels of a currently processed pixel having same group mark. Therefore, the group regions can be recognized according to the group mark and regionalized chain code thereof, so as to simultaneously perform image processing procedures on those group regions.

In one exemplary embodiment, a face detection method implemented in a computer system estimates location and size of face candidate regions for an input image, which includes image regionalization, region labeling and feature capturing, distance transform, and face location and size estimation, to predict at least a face location and size range for the input image. An apparatus and method for moving object detection computes a corresponding frame difference for every two successive image frames of a moving object, and segments a current image frame of the two successive image frames into a plurality of homogeneous regions. At least a candidate region is further detected from the plurality of homogeneous regions. The system gradually merges the computed frame differences via a morphing-based technology and fuses the merged frame difference with the at least a candidate region, thereby obtaining the location and a complete outline of the moving object.

A method for creating an appearance model of an object includes receiving an image of the object and creating a hierarchical appearance model of the object from the image of the object. The hierarchical appearance model has a plurality of layers, each layer including one or more nodes. Nodes in each layer contain information of the object with a corresponding level of detail. Nodes in different layers of the hierarchical appearance model correspond to different levels of detail.

Methods and systems for creating a hierarchical appearance model

A pixel region-based image segmentation method is disclosed. When an input image is retrieved, pixels thereof are sequentially scanned row by row. Signs of unmarked pixels of the input image are determined according to region features of neighboring pixels of each pixel and pixel update information is recorded to generate a region sign update data table and a region sign feature data table. The pixels of the input frame are further scanned row by row to retrieve signs of the pixels and region signs of the pixels are determined and updated according to the region sign update data table.
