Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to short-wave infrared (SWIR) materials, SWIR detectors, and methods of use. In an aspect, a SWIR detector is provided and includes a conductive layer disposed over a first portion of a substrate, the conductive layer having a trench therein, and a hole transport layer disposed over at least a second portion of the substrate and within the trench of the conductive layer. The SWIR detector further includes a light conversion layer disposed over at least a portion of the hole transport layer, the light conversion layer comprising a composition having the formula ABMX, wherein: A is an organic group or ion thereof; B is an organic group, an inorganic group, or ion thereof; M is a metal or ion thereof; X is a halogen or ion thereof; and a, b, c, and d are numbers expressing amounts of A, B, M, and X.

Short-wave infrared materials, detectors, and methods

The present disclosure is directed to methods of making Pb-free perovskites for short-wave IR (SWIR) devices and to various Pb-free perovskite materials disclosed herein. The perovskites disclosed herein have improved chemical stability and long-term stability, while the production methods disclosed herein have improved safety and lower cost.

Pb-free perovskite materials for short wave IR devices

Techniques for preparing an electrocatalyst include growing and immobilizing an earth-abundant metal on an MXene two-dimensional (2D) substrate using a solvothermal, hydrothermal, or electrodeposition process. The earth-abundant metal may include NiFeOOH. The earth-abundant metal may include Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ti, V, Cr, and a combination thereof. The earth-abundant metal may be nanoparticles. The nanoparticles may include multiple metals. The electrocatalyst may be provided for an oxygen evolution reaction. The electrocatalyst may produce a current density of 500-1000 mA/cmfor at least 20 hours without degradation thereof.

Catalysts for oxygen evolution reactions

A method of electrochemical reduction of COincludes the use of a catalyst of Cu/CuO particles including Cu/CuO interfaces. The catalyst may be included in an electrochemical cell for the conversion of COto value-added products. The electrochemical cell may include an anode, a cathode including the Cu/CuO particles including Cu/CuO interfaces, and an aqueous medium containing COor CO. The COor COis reduced by contacting the Cu/CuO particles with the aqueous medium while supplying electricity to the cell. The conversion of COby the electrochemical reduction thereof has higher Faradaic Efficiency due to the Cu/CuO interfaces in the Cu/CuO particles.

All inorganic perovskite materials for short wave IR devices

A method of electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide includes the use of multi-faceted CuO crystals as a catalyst to convert COto value-added products. An electrochemical cell for the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide includes a cathode including the multi-faceted CuO crystals. The multi-faceted CuO crystals have at least two different types of facets with different Miller indices. The multi-faceted CuO crystals include steps and kinks present at the transitions between the different types of facets. These steps and kinks improve the Faradaic Efficiency of the conversion of carbon dioxide. The multi-faceted CuO crystals may be nanosized. The multi-faceted CuO crystals may include 18-facet, 20-facet, and/or 50-facet CuO crystals.

Synergistic effects of multi-faceted CU2O nanocrystals for electrochemical CO2 reduction

A simple approach to produce mixed Cu/CuO nanocrystals having a specific morphology by controlling the reaction temperature during Cu/CuO nanocrystals synthesis. Other variables are kept constant, such as the amount of reactants, while the reaction temperatures is maintained at a predetermined temperature of 70&#xb0; C., 30&#xb0; C. or 0&#xb0; C., which are used to produce different and controlled morphologies for the Cu/CuO nanocrystals. The reaction mixture includes a copper ion contributor, a capping agent, a pH adjustor, and reducing agent. The reaction mixture is held at the predetermined temperature for three hours to produce the Cu/CuO nanocrystals. The synthesis method has advantages such as mass production, easy operation, and high reproducibility.
