Techniques for enhancing performance in Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) scenarios, including techniques for time-sensitive networking (TSN) and 5G wireless network integration. An example method, performed by a wireless device, comprises receiving system information (SI) from a radio base station (RBS) of a radio access network (RAN), the SI being indicative of support for TSN through the RBS, and establishing at least one TSN stream with an external data network, through the RBS. The example method further includes receiving a first timing signal from the wireless communications network, via the RBS, receiving a second timing signal from the external TSN data network to which the wireless device is connected, comparing the first timing signal to the second timing signal to determine an offset, and transmitting the offset to the wireless communications network.

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. The example method further includes, in the same wireless device, receiving, in a first subframe, a first Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission formatted according to a first numerology and receiving, in a second subframe, a second OFDM transmission formatted according to a second numerology, the second numerology differing from the first numerology. Variants of this method, corresponding apparatuses, and corresponding network-side methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for Control Resource Set (CORESET) enhancements for initial access. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device comprises receiving and decoding a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) transmission in a CORESET in accordance with at least a portion of a Control Channel Element (CCE) to Resource Element Group (REG) mapping. The PDCCH transmission comprises one or more CCEs. The CCE to REG mapping comprises an interleaved portion that maps the one or more CCEs to a first set of REGs that are spread across a bandwidth of the CORESET, and a second portion that maps at least a portion of an additional CCE to at least a REG in a frequency gap between two REGs in the first set of REGs, the additional CCE corresponding to one of the CCEs mapped to the first set of REGs.

Coreset enhancement for reduced bandwidth UEs initial access

Embodiments herein disclose e.g. a method performed by a wireless device () for handling communication for the wireless device in a second wireless communication network. The second wireless communication network coexists with a first wireless communication network on a same bandwidth in frequency, wherein the first wireless communication network applies a first shift in frequency in uplink transmissions. The wireless device receives from a radio network node (), an indication indicating application of a second shift in frequency to uplink transmissions in case the second wireless communication network uses Frequency Division Duplex (FDD). The wireless device further applies the second shift in frequency to uplink transmissions, wherein the second shift defines a shift in frequency to a subcarrier relative to a subcarrier grid of the second wireless communication network or a shift in frequency to the subcarrier grid of the second wireless communication network.

Radio network node, wireless device and methods performed therein for handling communication in a wireless communication network

Systems and methods for selecting subcarriers to be used for sub-Physical Resource Block (PRB) transmission and, in some embodiments, for mapping Demodulation Reference Signals (DMRS) to resources on the selected subcarriers are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a radio node for providing sub-PRB transmission comprises selecting two adjacent subcarriers from a set of three allocated subcarriers that are allocated for a sub-PRB transmission that uses Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) Pi/2 Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) modulation using only two adjacent subcarriers out of the set of three allocated subcarriers with Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) spread length of 2. In some embodiments, the selection is such that the selected adjacent subcarriers varies, e.g., from one cell to another. In doing so, interference is distributed.

Systems and methods for selecting subcarriers for sub-PRB transmissions

A wireless device determines whether to provide a reduced capability, RedCap, indication via a message 1 of a random access procedure. The wireless device transmits the message 1 based on the determination, and transmits a message 3 of the random access procedure. A RedCap indication is provided via the message 3 at least if a RedCap indication is not provided via the message 1. According to some embodiments, the wireless device receives an indication whether the wireless device is to provide a RedCap indication via the message 1, and the determination is based on the received indication. According to some embodiments, the indication whether the wireless device is to provide a RedCap indication via the message 1 is provided by whether a physical random access channel, PRACH, partition between RedCap wireless devices and other wireless devices is configured.

Early indication for reduced capability devices

A method by a reduced capability wireless device includes receiving system information from a network node. The system information comprising information specific to the reduced capability wireless device. The network node determines (), based on one or more quality-of-service (QoS) parameters, an aggregated uplink (UL) scheduling pattern for a wireless device (), the aggregated UL scheduling pattern for the wireless device comprising UL resources from a plurality of carriers. At least one of the one or more QoS parameters indicates a delay requirement 0 associated with the service.

There is provided a method performed by a wireless device for communicating with a network node in a wireless communication network. The method includes using a field in a Master Information Block (MIB) received by the wireless device, as an indication of a presence of an extended MIB (eMIB) and identifying which candidate resource of at least one candidate resource that contains the eMIB based on the indication of the presence of the eMIB. Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Systems and methods for radio operation with reduced bandwidth

A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for handling a Control Resource Set (CORESET) from a network node in a wireless communications network is provided. The UE operates with a reduced bandwidth. The UE detects a CORESET from the network node, and that a bandwidth of the CORESET is larger than the bandwidth of the UE. Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) candidates are transmitted in the CORESET. The UE determines which part of the CORESET to skip, to make the bandwidth of the CORESET equal or smaller than the bandwidth of the UE, such that the UE is capable of receiving the CORESET. The part of the CORESET to be skipped is determined based on a predicted decoding performance of the PDCCH candidates in the CORESET.

User equipment, network node and methods in a wireless communications network

Disclosed is a method for scheduling transmissions of multiple carriers from a single transmitting network node () for multiple Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) cells, (). The multiple carriers comprising a respective cell specific anchor carrier having NB-IoT sub-frames allocated for the transmission of mandatory information related to the functionality of the specific cell. Method and devices for scheduling transmissions of carriers to narrowband internet of things cells

A network node is configured to monitor battery usage on behalf of the low power device and to predict the SOC and remaining life-time for the batteries in the low power devices. The network nodes are fully powered and have the computational capacity to use more complex and accurate models that are not feasible for implementation in resource-limited devices. The network node can calculate the SOC and remaining life-time for a low power device and may also change the transmission and reception patterns for the device to extend the life-time of the battery.
