A sensor for obtaining downhole data includes a first piezoelectric layer. The sensor also includes a second piezoelectric layer having a trench extending a depth below a surface of the second piezoelectric layer. The sensor also includes an electrode positioned within the trench. The first piezoelectric layer is directly coupled to the second piezoelectric layer.

A multi-frequency tuning circuit includes a first branch including a first inductor and a first capacitor arranged in series and a second branch including a second inductor and a second capacitor arranged in series. The circuit is arranged within a circuitry module configured to be positioned between a source and a load, the first branch and the second branch both associated with loads, from the source, having low impedance frequencies. In order to improve transmitter antenna output power for downhole tools, the tuning circuit creates high impedance at operating frequencies between frequencies corresponding to low impedance.

Multi-frequency tuning network system and method

A system for downhole frequency re-tuning includes a receiver antenna, a receiver matching network, a transmitter antenna, the transmitter antenna outputting a signal that is received at the receiver antenna, a transmitter matching network, a power amplifier providing operational power to the transmitter antenna, and a frequency sweeping system. The frequency sweeping system includes an oscillator, coupled to the power amplifier, the oscillator providing an input signal to the power amplifier to adjust power output to the transmitter antenna. The system also includes a circulator, positioned between the power amplifier and the transmitter matching network, the circulator directing the operational power to the transmitter antenna. The system further includes a reflected power meter, coupled to the circulator, the reflected power meter receiving reflected power at the transmitter antenna responsive to receiver antenna. The system also includes a control module.

Tuning systems and methods for downhole antennas

The present disclosure is generally directed to utilizing capacitors stacks with capacitors mounted in a terminal-to-terminal mounting orientation to reduce overall footprint of capacitor arrays for bypass filtering circuits. In an embodiment, each capacitor stack includes at least a first capacitor, a second capacitor, and a ground plane interconnect. The first capacitor includes first and second terminals disposed opposite each other. The first terminal provides a mating surface to couple to the second capacitor, the second terminal couples to a ground plane. The second capacitor includes first and second terminals disposed opposite each other. The first terminal provides a mounting surface to electrically couple to and support the first capacitor, and the second terminal provides a mating surface to electrically and physically couple to the ground plane. Accordingly, the first capacitor can be inverted and mounted atop the second capacitor to eliminate the necessity of wire bonds, for example.

A downhole electrical logging tool includes a mandrel, and a pad coupled to and radially extendable from the mandrel. The pad includes an isolated power supply configured to receive DC or AC power via the mandrel and convert the DC or AC power into one or more DC voltages for powering electronic components on the pad. The pad further includes a digital data processor (e.g., a microcontroller, field programmable gate array, or digital signal processor) powered by the isolated power supply, a transmitter electrode, and a sensing electrode. The pad also includes a housing in which the controller and isolated power supply are located, and a pad body coupled to the mandrel. Components inside the housing are electrically isolated from the pad body. The tool further includes a signal generator electrically coupled to the transmitter electrode to drive the transmitter electrode.

A mixing assembly comprises a tubular member and a spherical body disposed within a portion of the tubular member. The spherical body has a central volume, and a wall defined by an outside diameter and an inside diameter. The spherical body includes an inlet side and an outlet side, and a plurality of channels formed in each of inlet side and outlet side. The channels are oriented toward a center of the central volume.

Systems and methods for downhole component monitoring including a monitored component doped with a pre-selected neutron absorbent, the monitored component being part of a downhole tool and a neutron monitoring system positioned relative to the monitored component. The neutron monitoring system includes a neutron source positioned at a first location relative to the monitored component and a neutron detector positioned at a second location relative to the monitored component, the neutron detector configured to detect neutrons from the neutron source and count said detected neutrons. A control unit is in communication with the neutron detector and configured to determine a status of the monitored component from the neutron count received from the neutron detector.

This application includes mixing devices, methods, and systems in which a second fluid can be introduced through a second flow channel to a dispersion member for extrusion through a perforated portion of a dispersion member into a first flow channel for mixing with a first fluid. In some of the present mixing devices, methods, and systems, the second flow channel is substantially perpendicular to the first flow channel, and/or the perforated portion is disposed on a downstream portion of the dispersion member.

Apparatus, system, and methods for blending crude oils

Apparatuses and methods are provided herein that may improve sensitivity to transient signals. For example, an electromagnetic sensor for downhole measurements that includes a plurality of sectors (e.g., four quadrants) is provided herein. Each quadrant may include a magnetic core formed of a material with a high initial magnetic permeability to improve sensitivity to transient signals. A sensor for continuous wave induction tools is also provided, and may include a magnetic core formed of a material with a high initial magnetic permeability. Forming each sector magnetic core of a material with a high mechanical reliability may allow the magnetic core of the corresponding sensor to be pliable and flexible and not brittle and prone to breaking. Furthermore, the corresponding sensor may have enhanced sensitivity, greater stability of sensitivity relative to temperature changes, and high mechanical reliability.

In one aspect, a method of making a drill bit is disclosed that includes selecting a drill bit configuration, obtaining a stress map for the drill bit configuration relating to a drilling operation, performing a mechanical test with an actual drill bit having the selected configuration, and selecting a location on a surface of the drill bit for installing a sensor thereat based on a location of low stress from the stress map and results of the mechanical test, and placing a sensor at the selected location.

A compression contact member coupled to the mounting body compressively secures the resonator non-sensing section in a mounting body. The apparatus may further include a pressure feed through module received in the mounting body that is in signal communication with the resonator.
