A method for operation of a first communication device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication channel, having a plurality of component channels, between the first communication device and a second communication device is described. A first physical layer (PHY) protocol data unit (PPDU) and a second PPDU, distinct from the first PPDU, are generated. The first PPDU and second PPDU are transmitted simultaneously to the second communication device over the WLAN communication channel, including: transmitting the first PPDU via a first component channel within a first radio frequency (RF) channel segment that occupies a first frequency bandwidth, and transmitting the second PPDU via a second component channel within a second RF channel segment that occupies a second frequency bandwidth that does not overlap the first frequency bandwidth segment, and is separated from the first frequency bandwidth segment by a frequency gap.

WLAN operation using multiple component channels

A first communication device generates and transmits a frame that is configured to cause one or more second communication devices in a wireless local area network (WLAN) to refrain from transmitting during a set of repeating time segments, and the frame is generated to include an indication of a time period of the time segments in the set of repeating time segments, the time period being less than a duration of a beacon interval of the WLAN such that multiple ones of the time segments occur within one beacon interval. Alternatively, the frame is configured to cause one or more second communication devices in the WLAN to refrain from transmitting during a time segment that begins in conjunction with an end of transmission of i) the frame or ii) a packet that includes the frame, and the frame is generated to include an indication of a time duration of the time segment.

Quieting a wireless local area network

Various embodiments relate to a method performed by a station to identify the maximum allowed transmit power spectral density (PSD) of a basic service set (BSS), including: receiving, by the station, a first field from an access point (AP) of the BSS, wherein the first field indicates that the BSS bandwidth is set to M times a unit channel bandwidth; receiving, by the station, a set of second fields from the AP, wherein the set of second fields includes K fields corresponding to K channels and wherein each of the K second fields indicates the maximum allowed transmit PSD for the K channels and the bandwidth of the channel is the unit channel bandwidth; and identifying, by the station, the maximum allowed transmit PSD of the M channels of the BSS bandwidth from the first M consecutive second fields.

Apparatus and methods of transmit power allocation in wireless communication systems

One example discloses a multi-radio device, including: a controller configured to be coupled to a first radio that is configured to transmit a first signal, and a second radio that is configured to transmit a second signal; wherein the controller includes a detection element configured to detect a third signal generated in response to simultaneous transmission of the first and second signals; wherein the controller includes a decision element configured to modulate one or more information packets in the first and second signals in response to the third signal.

Third order intermodulation distortion cancellation

A first communication device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) selects an aggregate communication channel from a first set of one or more allowed non-overlapping aggregate communication channels that is wholly within a first radio frequency (RF) sub-band that is adjacent in frequency to a second RF sub-band. The second RF sub-band includes a second set of one or more allowed non-overlapping aggregate communication channels that is wholly within the second RF sub-band and that is separated in frequency from the first set of allowed aggregate communication channels by a gap in frequency. The gap in frequency is smaller than a cumulative bandwidth of two component communication channels in the first RF sub-band. The method also includes: using, at the first communication device, the selected aggregate communication channel to transmit a packet to one or more second communication devices in the WLAN.

WiFi channelization for 6 gigahertz band

A first communication device generates a media access control (MAC) frame that includes an indication of a change in a block acknowledgment (BA) session that was previously established between the first communication device and a second communication device. The first communication device transmits the MAC frame to the second communication device. Method and apparatus for mitigating the effect of certain types of interference on a signal received in a wireless network

The present disclosure describes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications. A described system includes a first radio configured to wirelessly transmit to a first station in accordance with a first wireless communication technology via uplink periods that are scheduled by the first station; a second radio configured to wirelessly communicate with a second station in accordance with a second wireless communication technology; and a controller coupled with the first and second radios, the controller being configured to select for puncturing one or more of the uplink periods based on information about types of data to be transmitted respectively in the uplink periods, puncture, independently of the first station, the one or more selected uplink periods by causing the first radio to terminate transmissions to the first station during the selected uplink period(s), and cause the second radio to receive data from the second station during the selected uplink period(s).

Termination of wireless communication uplink periods to facilitate reception of other wireless communications

The present disclosure describes techniques and apparatuses for scheduling use of radio resources in a wireless network. In some aspects a method is described that includes receiving an indication from a mobile device of an in-device coexistence problem, and determining, from the parameters in the received indication, one or more component carriers of the carrier aggregation affected by the in-device coexistence problem. The method also includes applying a time-domain solution and/or a frequency domain solution to at least one of the one or more affected component carriers to solve the in-device coexistence problem.

Method and apparatus for scheduling use of radio resources in a wireless network

A wireless communication device including an interference module and a feedback generation module. The interference module is configured to detect interference on a communication channel, identify types of the interference detected on the communication channel, and provide information about the types of the interference detected on the communication channel. The feedback generation module is configured to receive a request, from a transmitter, for feedback about a condition of the communication channel, and, based on the request and the information about the types of the interference detected on the communication channel, determine a measurement region of the communication channel, generate the feedback about the condition of the communication channel using measurements taken, by a receiver, in the measurement region as determined by the feedback generation module, and provide the feedback to the transmitter.

Method and apparatus for assessing a condition of a wireless channel in view of feedback under strong and sporadic interference received over the wireless channel

The present disclosure describes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications by devices that employ more than one wireless communication technology. According to an aspect of the described systems and techniques, a device includes: a first radio configured to communicate wirelessly with a first station in accordance with a first wireless communication technology, a second radio configured to communicate wirelessly with a second station in accordance with a second wireless communication technology, a controller configured to (i) terminate scheduled portions of time for sending communications from the first radio to the first station in favor of receiving communications from the second station to the second radio and (ii) restrict which of all available scheduled portions of time for sending communications from the first radio to the first station are provided for termination based on information about types of data transmitted in respective ones of the available scheduled portions of time.
