A downhole power generation includes a power generation module for providing power to a load. A turbine is driven by flow of a downhole fluid to rotate. A generator is coupled with the turbine for converting rotational energy from the turbine to electrical energy, and an AC-DC rectifier is coupled with the generator for converting an alternating voltage from the generator to a direct voltage. A power conversion circuit couples the AC-DC rectifier with the load. The power conversion circuit is configured for providing a first power to the load when the load is in a working mode and providing a second power to the load when the load is in a non-working mode. The second power is less than the first power. A downhole power generation method is also disclosed.

Downhole power generation system and method

A downhole power generation system is disclosed, which includes a turbine generator system. The turbine generator system includes a turbine, a generator coupled with the turbine and having an AC-DC rectifier, and an optimized power control unit. The turbine is driven by flow of a downhole fluid to rotate. The generator converts rotational energy from the turbine to electrical energy and outputting a direct current voltage. The turbine generator system is coupled to a load via the optimized power control unit. The optimized power control unit controls to regulate an output voltage of the generator and provides a regulated output voltage to the load so that the turbine generator system has an optimized power output. An optimized power control method for a downhole power generation system is also disclosed.

Downhole power generation system and optimized power control method thereof

Systems and methods for communicating between surface equipment and a downhole tool installed in a well. First and second toroidal transformers are positioned around an inner one of a pair of coaxial structural members of a well completion (e.g., a pump rod and tubular, or a tubular and a well casing) which are electrically coupled to form an electrical circuit. A transmitter generates a data signal which is applied to the first toroidal transformer, causing a corresponding electrical current to be induced in the circuit, which then induces the data signal on the second toroidal transformer. A receiver coupled to the second toroidal transformer receives the data signal induced on the second toroidal transformer. The transmitter and receiver may be components of transceivers that may communicate bidirectionally. Additional toroidal coils and transceiver may be provided to communicate with equipment at additional locations in the well.

Systems and methods for wireless communication in a well

Systems and methods for wireless power transmission in a well, wherein first and second structural members of a well completion are electrically connected to form an electrical circuit, with first and second toroidal transformers positioned around the second structural member at different axial locations. A power source coupled to the first toroidal transformer is configured to generate an output voltage which is applied to the first toroidal transformer, inducing a corresponding electrical current in the electrical circuit. This in turn induces a second voltage on the second toroidal transformer, which is provided to a downhole tool. The tool may include conditioning circuitry, which rectifies the received power and charges a battery. The downhole electric tool is then operated using the received power.

Systems and methods for wireless power transmission in a well

A sensing system that includes a cylindrical body including an internal flow channel that channels a first fluid therethrough, and a sampling chamber. The sampling chamber is in flow communication with an ambient environment. A venturi device is coupled within the cylindrical body, and the venturi device includes a high pressure portion and a low pressure portion. The low pressure portion is in flow communication with the sampling chamber. A valve is coupled within the cylindrical body and is positionable in at least a first position. A first flow channel is defined between the internal flow channel and the high pressure portion through the valve. The first flow channel channels the first fluid towards the high pressure portion such that the low pressure portion draws a second fluid into the sampling chamber from the ambient environment. A sensor assembly determines characteristics of the second fluid within the sampling chamber.

A lens system includes a tube lens and a lens assembly, with the tube lens disposed between an optical sensor and the lens assembly. The lens assembly is disposed between the tube lens and an imaged object. In order to solve the problem of some lens systems having focal lengths that are shorter than the working distances of the lens systems, one aspect of the inventive subject matter described herein provides the lens assembly with a negative lens and plural positive lenses. A first positive lens is located between a second positive lens and an imaging plane, the second positive lens is located between the first positive lens and the negative lens, and the negative lens is located between the second positive lens and the tube lens.

An automated measurement system includes multi-axis imager configured to receive images of a workpiece wherein the images include visual information about the workpiece at a plurality of focus planes or visual information about the workpiece between at least two focus planes. The multi-axis imager is also configured to determine a point cloud of a plurality of 3 D data points wherein each of the plurality of 3 D data points represents an intersection of one of the plurality of focus planes with a surface of the workpiece or positional information of the workpiece in a de-focused area between the at least two focus planes. The multi-axis imager is further configured to determine a plurality of dimensions of features of the workpiece and compare the determined plurality of dimensions of the features to manufacturing specifications corresponding to at least some of the determined plurality of dimensions of the features.

Method and system for automated shaped cooling hole measurement

A method and system for monitoring creep in an object are provided. The creep monitoring system includes a creep sensor assembly that includes at least one image pattern pair disposed on a surface of the object. The creep monitoring method includes receiving information from the creep sensor assembly regarding an observed creep and an offset associated with the object, correcting the observed creep using the information regarding the offset and outputting the corrected information relative to the creep.
