Various solutions for enhancements on paging early indication-occasion (PEI-O) monitoring are described. An apparatus may receive a first radio resource control (RRC) parameter from a network node. The first RRC parameter indicates an offset before a first paging frame (PF). The apparatus may determine a time location of a PEI-O according to a reference point determined by the offset. The PEI-O is associated with one or more paging occasions (POs) in one or more paging frames (PFs) starting from the first PF. The apparatus may monitor the PEI-O to detect whether a PEI is received from the network node. The PEI indicates whether there is a paging for a subgroup to which the apparatus belongs.

Method and apparatus for enhancements on paging early indication (PEI) design

Various solutions for enhancements on paging early indication (PEI) design are described. An apparatus may receive a PEI from a network node of a wireless network. The PEI is included in a downlink control information (DCI) with a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by a paging early indication-radio network temporary identifier (PEI-RNTI). The apparatus may monitor a paging occasion (PO) associated with the apparatus in a case that the PEI indicates there being a paging for a subgroup to which the apparatus belongs.

Method and apparatus for enhancements on paging early indication (pei) design

A method of introducing a Downlink Control Information (DCI)-based early paging indication (PEI) for power consumption enhancements in a 5G/NR network is proposed. In particular, a Base Station (BS) can transmit a message including a PEI to a User Equipment (UE) when the UE is under an idle ode. Then, the UE can receive the PEI under the idle mode and determine whether to monitor a Paging Occasion (PO) according to the PEI. In some embodiments, a format of the message including the PEI can include a format of DCI.

Downlink control information-based paging early indicator

Method and UE are provided for scheduling for CCS from SCell to PCell. In particular, a UE can connect to a PCell and a SCell. A CCS is configured between the PCell and the SCell. According to a UE type, the UE can monitor PDCCHs from both the PCell and the SCell in a same slot when the UE is a first type UE, or ignore the PDCCHs from the SCell in the same slot when the UE is a second type UE.

Method and user equipment for cross-carrier scheduling from secondary cell to primary cell

A new design for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) is proposed for the next generation 5G new radio systems. A UE receives the configuration of a default control resource set (CORESET) in MIB/SIB from its serving base station. The default CORESET contains both common search space and UE-specific search space for candidate PDCCH transmission. A PDCCH in a default CORESET is mapped to physical resource in a distributed or localized manner. Specifically, various REG-to-CCE mapping rules are proposed to improve frequency diversity gain, or frequency selectivity gain, or to reduce latency of PDCCH processing. Further, to facilitate analog beamforming in mmWave systems, the default CORESET is transmitted in a synchronization signal (SS) block associated with a corresponding analog beam direction.

Physical downlink control channel design for NR systems

A UE determines N1 component carriers on each of which the UE is configured to detect a respective one PDCCH in a slot. The UE determines N2 component carriers on each of which the UE is configured to detect respective at least two PDCCHs in the slot. The UE determines a total Q blind detections of PDCCH that the UE is capable of performing. The UE determines a first predetermined scaling factor X. The UE allocates M1 blind detections of the Q blind detections to be available on each of the N1 component carriers and M2 blind detections of the Q blind detections to be available on each of the N2 component carriers such that (N1*M1+N2*M2) is a largest integer no greater than Q. M2 equals to X*M1. The UE performs blind detections in accordance with the allocations.

Blind detection and CCE allocation for carrier aggregation

A method for enhancing Bandwidth Part (BWP) operation towards Secondary Cell (SCell) dormancy indication is proposed. A User Equipment (UE) detects a Downlink Control Information (DCI) format including an SCell dormancy indication that indicates an active BWP change for a serving cell. The UE performs BWP switching for the serving cell in response to the DCI format. The UE stops transmission or reception in the serving cell during a time duration from a slot containing a last symbol of the DCI format, wherein the time duration includes a first period of time of delay for the BWP switching and a second period of time of interruption to other active serving cells.

Enhancement for bandwidth part (BWP) operation towards secondary cell (SCELL) dormancy indication

A UE receives one or more modulation symbols on one or more resource elements prior to an ON duration in a particular DRX cycle in RRC connected mode. The one or more resource elements are allocated to carry a wake-up signal. The UE performs a blind detection of the wake-up signal on the one or more modulation symbols in accordance with a DCI format and a group identifier identifying a group of UEs including the UE. The wake-up signal includes an indication that indicates whether one or more UEs of the group of UEs should monitor a down link control channel in the ON duration. The UE determines whether to operate in a normal state and monitor a down link control channel in the ON duration based on the wake-up signal when the wake-up signal is detected.

Wake-up signal operation for UE power saving

Various solutions for power saving for New Radio (NR) carrier aggregation in mobile communications are described. An apparatus receives, from a wireless network, a trigger signal. The apparatus switches between a first bandwidth part (BWP) and a second BWP of at least two BWPs for a secondary cell (SCell) in response to receiving the trigger signal. No physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring is configured for the first BWP while PDCCH monitoring is configured for the second BWP.

Power saving for new radio carrier aggregation

Methods of enabling multiuser superposition transmission (MUST) in LTE systems are proposed. MUST operation allows simultaneous transmission for multiple co-channel users on the same time-frequency resources. A higher-layer signaling is used for configuring a UE to enable MUST. When a UE is configured by higher layer to enable MUST, the UE will monitor physical-layer control signaling carrying scheduling information and MUST-related information. Depending on whether MUST exists in each subframe, the UE derives the power allocation between the UE and its co-channel UE on allocated resource blocks. The UE also derives the power allocation based on whether it is configured for CRS-based transmission mode or DMRS-based transmission mode.

Power control signaling for multiuser superpostion transmission

A method of downlink control information (DCI) transmission is proposed to enhance DCI transmission efficiency over physical layer signaling in cellular mobile communication networks. A serving base station uses a higher layer signaling, e.g., radio resource control (RRC) signaling message to configure a plurality of user equipments (UEs) to monitor UE-group DCI. When the UE is configured to monitor UE-group DCI, the UE monitors both unicast DCI and UE-group DCI in each corresponding scheduling time unit, e.g., a subframe in LTE. The candidate positions of the unicast DCI and the UE-group DCI can be orthogonal, partially overlapping, or fully overlapping with each other.

Methods of efficient downlink control information transmission

A method of two-stage scheduling in downlink control channel is proposed to enhance downlink control information (DCI) forward compatibility and hardware flexibility. The DCI comprises a basic DCI and an extended DCI. The basic DCI provides basic scheduling information of the scheduled data. The extended DCI provides extended scheduling information of the scheduled data channel. The basic DCI can be unicast to a single UE over UE-specific search space. The basic DCI can also be broadcast or multicast to a group of UEs over common search space. UE performs blind detection of the basic DCI only, while the location and size of the extended DCI can be provided by the basic DCI or provided by a higher layer signaling. Cross-slot/subframe and Multi-slot/subframe scheduling can also be applied in the two-stage scheduling.
