A display device includes a display panel which includes a plurality of pixels in a matrix form, an image signal comparator which compares image signals corresponding to at least two successive frames and increases a count value if a proportion of the image signals that are the same as each other exceeds a preset critical value, and a panel driver which drives the display panel to display a non-image signal on at least a part of the display panel during at least one frame if the count value reaches a preset instruction value.

A driving circuit for a liquid crystal display and the liquid crystal display are disclosed. The liquid crystal display includes a display panel for displaying an image and a driving voltage generating circuit connected to the display panel, wherein the driving circuit includes a DC-DC converter for converting an input voltage level of a power input terminal to drive the display panel and outputting it as a driving voltage, a power line for connecting the power input terminal and the DC-DC converter, a first diode connected to a first node of the power line, a driving voltage terminal connected to an output terminal of the DC-DC converter, and a second diode connected to the first diode and the driving voltage terminal, wherein the power line includes a second node connected to a ground electrode between the first diode and the second diode.

A liquid crystal display including a plurality of pixels includes a gray voltage generator generating a plurality of gray voltages, a data driver supplying data voltages selected from the gray voltages corresponding to image data to the pixels, a gate driver supplying gate voltages to gate lines of the pixels, a signal controller supplying a first control signal to the gate driver and the image data and a second control signal to the data driver for controlling the image data and comprising a dimming controller, the dimming controller generating a dimming signal based on an average gray of the image data over at least one frame and a common voltage generator generating at least one common voltage based on the dimming signal and applying the common voltage to the pixels. Therefore, the variation of the pixel voltage depending on the gray of the image data is decreased to improve image quality of the LCD.

A driver and a driving method of a display device that includes a signal controller that processes image data input from an external circuit and a memory that is connected to the signal controller, wherein the signal controller includes a data converter that converts the image data and outputs the converted image data to the memory, and the data converter includes a data output unit that converts and outputs the image data and a data input unit that restores the image data input from the memory. Accordingly, the number of data transitions between the signal controller and the memory can be minimized to reduce current consumption and to reduce EMI.
