Provided are a cooling apparatus and a refrigerator having the same. The cooling apparatus includes a case configured to receive a container holding a liquid, and an agitating member that is positioned within the case and that is configured to agitate the container holding the liquid. The cooling apparatus also includes an electro-magnetic power generator that includes an electromagnet and that is configured to generate a driving force that causes the agitating member to agitate the container holding the liquid.

Cooling apparatus and refrigerator having the same

A refrigerator is provided, including a body having a refrigerator compartment and a freezer compartment positioned under the refrigerator compartment and separated by a mullion, and a cooling device provided at a lower portion of the refrigerator compartment, with a cold air passage guiding cold air to the cooling device. The cooling device may include a case having an open front surface, an agitating assembly disposed in the case and swinging about a rotational axis that is parallel with a longitudinal direction of the case, an agitating mechanism electrically or mechanically connected with the agitating assembly to swing the agitating assembly, a fan motor assembly mounted at a rear end of the case and supplying cold air into the case, and a cover selectively opening or closing the opened front surface of the case. An intake port and a discharge port of the cold air passage communicate with the freezer compartment.

Refrigerator

A refrigerator according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a driving assembly that is mounted on the case and an underside of the agitating assembly to generate a driving force for swinging the agitating assembly, and a refrigeration cycle for producing cold air to be supplied to the storage chamber and the cooling device. The cooling device further includes a starting torque supply mechanism supplying mechanical or electric energy to the agitating assembly, to initiate a swinging motion of the agitating assembly.

A refrigerator according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a body having a storage chamber; a door selectively opening or closing the storage chamber; a cooling device including: a case of which a front surface is open and mounted at a side in the storage chamber; an agitating assembly that is swingably disposed in the case; a cover that is rotatably mounted on the case to open or close the front surface of the case; and a driving assembly that is mounted on the case and an underside of the agitating assembly to generates a driving force for swinging the agitating assembly; a refrigeration cycle for producing cold air to be supplied to the storage chamber and the cooling device; and an anti-interference mechanism disposed at the agitating assembly and the case, wherein the anti-interference mechanism is configured to prevent the agitating assembly from hitting against an inner surface of the case while the agitating assembly swings.

Provided are a cooling apparatus and a refrigerator having the same. The cooling apparatus includes a case that receives a container holding a liquid and that includes an inlet and an outlet, and at least one fan that promotes movement of air into the case through the inlet, over the container holding the liquid, and out of the case through the outlet. The cooling apparatus also includes a drawer with an agitating member that agitates the container holding the liquid during cooling. The drawer is removable from the case and replaceable in the case. The cooling apparatus further includes a power generator that includes a portion fixed to the case and generates a driving force that causes the agitating member to agitate the container holding the liquid.
