An antenna device for a portable terminal, in which a first radiator is installed within the portable terminal, a second radiator is elongated lengthwise and installed to be retractable into and extendable from the portable terminal, and a switch portion has at least one plate spring and connects a communication circuit portion of the portable terminal selectively to the first radiator or the second radiator. When the second radiator is retracted into the portable terminal, the communication circuit portion is connected to the first radiator through the at least one plate spring, and when the second radiator is extended from the portable terminal, the communication circuit portion is connected to the second radiator through the at least one plate spring.

A head set device includes an antenna housing, a speaker housing connected to the antenna housing while protruding from one face of the antenna housing, and a hinge device for rotatably combining the speaker housing to the antenna housing. The speaker housing rotates with respect to a rotation axis that extends outwardly from one face of the antenna housing. The antenna housing and the speaker housing are rotatably connected together using a hinge device, thereby allowing the user to selectively wear the head set device on either ear and thus facilitating the use of the head set device. Moreover, by including the sensing means and the signal generating means to sense the position of the speaker housing and generate the holding signal, the operation of the head set device may be prevented even if there is unintentional key manipulation during a user's carrying of the head set device, thereby preventing unnecessary consumption of the storage battery and thus allowing the efficient use of the storage battery having a limited capacity.

A memory expansion pack, which includes a memory for storing content, an FM receiver, an ear jack, and a controller, is connected with a portable terminal through a connector of the pack to provide content to the terminal. Under the control of the controller, content stored in the memory and audio data, which is received through the FM receiver from an external device over a set frequency channel, is transmitted to the terminal. When the ear jack is connected with the external output device, it outputs the content through the external output device. When the ear jack is connected with a device, such as a PC, the ear jack downloads content from the PC. The memory expansion pack allows the user to provide and use a large amount of various content. The pack can also provide high quality services, overcoming the limited memory capacity of portable terminals, and reduce the cost of wireless data communication.

Disclosed is a method for switching broadcasting channels in a digital broadcasting reception apparatus employing a time division multiplexing scheme. The method includes receiving and demodulating digital broadcasting data according to at least one broadcasting channel serviced in a frequency band used by the broadcasting station when the broadcasting channel of a predetermined broadcasting station is selected, outputting the digital broadcasting data of the selected broadcasting channel among the demodulated digital broadcasting data according to the broadcasting channels, storing digital broadcasting data according to the broadcasting channels except the selected broadcasting channel, and when there is a request for switching one of the broadcasting channels serviced by the broadcasting station, retrieving and outputting the digital broadcasting data of the requested broadcasting channel among the stored data. Since it is possible to quickly switch broadcasting channels in the apparatus during output of the digital broadcasting, the convenience for users is improved.

The apparatus comprises a folder opening/closing detection module detecting opening/closing states of folder housings pivoting away from a body housing of the terminal in different directions and generating opening/closing detection signals, a key input module comprising input modules each having inner and external key(s), a display module comprising a first display module disposed in one of the folder housings and a second display module disposed in the body housing, a position detection module detecting a terminal position and generating position detection signals, a voice inputting/outputting module comprising input/output modules each having a speaker and a microphone and mounted on different sides of the terminal, rotary-type speakers each rotatably mounted inside one of the folder housings, and a control module controlling said input/output and display modules (including speakers) according to the folder opening/closing signals and/or the generated position signals.

Apparatus and method for controlling a function of a wireless terminal

Disclosed is a mobile terminal and in particular a data storing and reading method of a mobile terminal which makes it possible to perform mutual data exchange between a mobile terminal and a personal computer (PC) by using a universal serial bus interface (USB). For this purpose, there is provided a method and apparatus for storing and reading data in a mobile terminal connected with a PC through a USB interface, wherein the method comprises steps of: detecting whether the mobile terminal is powered on and connected with the PC; recognizing the mobile terminal as a portable disc drive if it is detected that the mobile terminal is connected with the PC; at a write mode for storing data after the mobile terminal is recognized as a portable disc drive, storing data in one of a phone memory installed in the mobile terminal and an auxiliary memory according to a preset storing mode; and at a read mode for reading out and transmitting stored data after the mobile terminal is recognized as a portable disc drive, reading out and transmitting corresponding data from the phone memory or the auxiliary memory, that is stored with data desired to be read out.

Disclosed is a device and method for performing a multi-function using a unique port in a wireless terminal capable of performing a multimedia function using the unique port. The device includes an interface unit for outputting a power signal through a connector inserted into the unique port, and performing data transmission/reception between a specific controller and the connector. A signal generating unit outputs a high-level signal by using the power signal output from the interface unit. A switching unit switches to a specific controller to communicate data with the connector, in order to output the high-level signal. A radiation module capable of resisting reverse flow of hot fluid includes a fan, a radiator and a retaining tool. The fan provides an inlet and an outlet. The radiator is connected to the outlet of the fan. The retaining tool secures the radiator to a heat generation part. At least a baffle is provided in the radiation module. The fluid enters the fan via the inlet and flows toward the radiator via the outlet to cool the heat-generating component and the hot fluid moving outward the radiator is resisted entering the inlet with the baffle part so as to enhance heat dissipation efficiency.

Provided is an antenna apparatus for a portable terminal including a first antenna pattern, and a second antenna pattern formed to correspond to the first antenna pattern, so that the second antenna provides a capacitive coupling along with the first pattern, thereby configuring a divergent type antenna with the second antenna pattern. The antenna apparatus configured in this manner comprises a pair of meander line antennas, whereby the antenna apparatus can efficiently suppress the generation of noise while being easily housed within the terminal. Furthermore, the antenna apparatus has an advantage of easily enhancing a specific absorption ratio (SAR) induced in a human body, which is an important factor for defining the function and quality of an antenna apparatus.
