A surgical device, the surgical device including a mounting part mounted on a robot arm of a surgical robot; an extension part extending from the mounting part; a joint driving part that comprises a driving motor having a driving axis, that comprises a driving rod connected to the driving axis and reciprocating, and that is connected to an end of the extension part; and a joint part that is connected to the joint driving part, that is driven at one or more degrees of freedom by the driving rod, wherein the driving motor is connected to the driving axis with an elastic connection member.

Surgical device

A surgical instrument utilized in a minimally invasive surgery is provided. The surgical instrument includes an end effecter configured to conduct a surgical operation, a piezoelectric driver configured to generate motive power, a power transmitting unit configured to transmit the motive power generated by the piezoelectric driver to the end effecter to operate the end effecter, and a housing which encloses the power transmitting unit and the at least one piezoelectric driver.

A surgical device including first and second joint parts that are connected in series is provided. The surgical device includes a plurality of link arms that pass through an inner portion of the first joint part so as to drive the second joint part. A multi-axis force sensing apparatus that is installed at an operational end of a surgery robot and is capable of measuring force acting upon the operational end and a robot arm including the force sensing apparatus includes a body that is elastically deformable and has a pipe form extending along an axial direction of the body, an optical fiber strain gauge attached to a surface of the body to measure a tension and compression of the body in at least three directions. The optical fiber strain gauge may include at least three fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) that are attached to the surface of the body and extended in an axial direction of the body, a light source providing light to each of the FBGs, and a light detector detecting light reflected by the FBGs or light that has passed through the FBGs.

Force sensing apparatus and robot arm including the same

A robot arm including a force sensing apparatus capable of accurately sensing of a force in the axial direction of the robot arm during operation thereof, without being affected by a motion of the robot arm. The robot arm includes: a body that is elastically deformable and has a pipe form extending in an axial direction; an instrument connected to an operational end of the body; a cable that is connected to a terminal end of the instrument and controls an operation of the instrument; and a force sensing apparatus that is attached to a surface of the body and senses a force acting upon the body, wherein the cable at the terminal end of the instrument is configured to move along a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the body.

A face detection apparatus and method are provided. The apparatus may acquire a distance difference image through a stereo camera and create an object mask using the distance difference image to detect a face candidate area. The apparatus may also determine a size of a search window using the distance difference image and detect a facial area in the face candidate area. Accordingly, an operation speed for face detection can be improved.

Method, medium, and system estimating pose of mobile robots

Technology for creating a feature map for localizing a mobile robot and extracting feature information of surroundings is provided. According to one aspect, feature information including a reflection function is extracted from information acquired using a 3D distance sensor and used as a basis for creating a feature map. Thus, a feature map that is less sensitive to change in the surrounding environment can be created, and a success rate of feature matching can be increased.

The method of detecting a carpet boundary includes detecting a carpet using respective carpet detectors fixed to both wheels of a robot, obtaining a moving distance of the robot for an interval between times at which the respective carpet detectors detect the carpet, and calculating a boundary direction of the carpet with respect to a moving direction of the robot using the moving distance and the interval between the times at which the respective carpet detectors detect the carpet.

A system, apparatus, and method of preventing a collision of a remote-controlled mobile robot are disclosed. The system includes a mobile robot transmitting image data taken by a camera mounted on the mobile robot and moving in accordance with received control data, and a control appliance receiving and analyzing the image data, displaying the analyzed result on a screen, and transmitting the control data to the mobile robot.

System, apparatus, and method of preventing collision of remote-controlled mobile robot

A robot having an obstacle detection unit and a method of controlling the robot. The robot includes a main body, a driving unit, an auxiliary body, and a control unit. The driving unit drives the main body along a given surface. The auxiliary body projects from the main body and detecting an obstacle around the main body. The control unit controls the driving unit according to results of the detection so that the main body and the obstacle are maintained at a predetermined distance from each other.
