A method of forming a concrete product includes directly capturing COfrom a gas source, the capturing comprising contacting the gas source with an absorption solution having a solvent and a solute, wherein the solvent and/or the solute are capable of reacting with COto form an anionic compound, adjusting the pH of the absorption solution electrochemically to less than about 7 to release the COas a concentrated vapor containing CO, collecting the concentrated vapor containing CO, regenerating the solvent and/or the solute, and optionally collecting the regenerated solvent and/or solute; flowing the concentrated vapor containing COthrough a gas processing unit to adjust at least one of a temperature, a relative humidity, or a flow rate of the concentrated vapor containing CO; and contacting the concentrated vapor containing COwith a concrete component.

Integration of direct air capture system into COmineralization process of concretes and aggregates

A system for a multi-chambered electrochemical cell for carbon dioxide removal includes an electrochemical cell. The electrochemical cell includes an anodic chamber at a first end of the electrochemical cell, which includes an anode. The electrochemical cell includes an acid swing chamber adjacent to the anodic chamber and separated by a cation exchange membrane. The electrochemical cell includes a desalination chamber separated from the acid swing chamber by a anion exchange membrane. The electrochemical cell includes a base swing chamber in fluid communication with the acid swing chamber and the desalination chamber. The base swing chamber is adjacent to the desalination chamber and separated by a cation exchange membrane. The electrochemical cell includes a cathodic chamber at a second end of the electrochemical cell, the cathodic chamber comprising a cathode, wherein the cathodic chamber is adjacent to the base swing chamber and separated by a second anion exchange membrane.

Multi-chambered electrochemical cell for carbon dioxide removal

Disclosed herein are methods of electrochemically enhanced amine-based COcapture and systems for performing the methods of amine-based COcapture. The present methods and systems advantageously may be carried out at ambient temperatures and allow for reusing the amine through multiple cycles.
