The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method, system, tool, and program product for sending a customized reply to an instant message. Specifically, under the present disclosure, a customized message may be provided for a specific instant messaging contact/availability status combination. When the availability status is selected and a message is received from the instant messaging contact, the customized message is automatically sent to the messaging contact. The disclosure may also be integrated into a calendaring application to determine, for example, whether the message recipient is in a meeting and, if so, to automatically send a reply that gives an estimated ending time for the meeting.

An email update system dynamically updates the content of an email when the originator of an email has sent the email, and the originator later determines that the email requires editing. The updating may take place transparent to the recipient and without the introduction of duplicative content into the recipient's email program. The email update system comprises a delta engine program and a delta temporary storage in a sender's computer, a queue manager program and an intermediate email queue in a server computer, and a recipient email retrieval program in a recipient's computer.

A system for automatically completing fields in online forms, such as login forms and new user registration forms, which employs a Master Cookie File containing sets of records associated with the user, his or her accounts or web sites, and registered values associated with form tags (e.g. username, password, address, email, telephone, etc.). Embodiments include transformations, code, state machines or other logic to enter text select text based upon the number of words in phrases of the text, upon the number of letters in words of the text, or upon other patterns of the text. The method may also involve indexing the selected text, matching text currently being entered by the user into an application to a portion of a segment of the indexed text, and entering a remaining portion of the segment of the indexed text into the application based upon the matching. In many embodiments, the text may be selected from the text entered into any of several applications. In a few embodiments, the text may be selected from sources specified by a user. In further embodiments, the sources may constitute data files.

A file managing software program for managing a list of elements in a specific sequence in a first file of a computer program, including the steps of copying the first file to form a second file having an identical list of elements as the first file. The user is then permitted to rearrange the sequence of the elements of the second file independently of the sequence of the first file. A display of both the first and the second file list elements is provided to the user. Further embodiments allow the user to categorize, prioritize, and order according to users specified rules of how the second file element list is organized and displayed to provide a more convenient and flexible presentation of the file contents.

Connection state information for Instant Message (IM) users is collected and stored by an IM client. Connection state information for everyone in a sender's buddy list is replicated and stored by the sender's IM client. The IM clients are updated as updates are made on the IM server. This enables simplified direct connection between IM clients when the IM server is down. Client-to-client IM searches are performable, wherein a search is transparently initiated against entries in the user's buddy list, i.e., the user's client directly contacts each available buddy in the user's buddy list using the stored connection state information of the buddy(ies), and it then queries the connection state information of all of the entries in their buddy list(s). For times when a user is not actively on-line, a listener service can be enabled at boot time for the user's PC or laptop computer.

Enhanced instant message connectivity

A system and method for controlling a peer-to-peer, unmoderated conference call, which allows a non-talking conferee to send an in-band interrupt request signal which is detected by the conference bridge, which automatically determines which conferee is currently talking, and continuously sends an alert signal to the talking conferee, but prevents transmission of alert signal and interrupt request signal to all other, non-speaking conferees. When the talking conferee quits talking, or acknowledges the interrupt request, or a timeout occurs, alert signal is discontinued, and the request conferee (or another conferee) may speak. Optionally, after a timeout occurs, the voice of the currently speaking conferee is removed from the conference summation, effectively muting the non-yielding conferee.

The instant messaging client receives input from a user to schedule an instant messaging chat session with one or more invitees, wherein the one or more invitees are selected from a list of contacts in the instant messaging client. The instant messaging client provides a scheduling interface to the user, wherein the scheduling interface allows the user to define properties for the instant messaging chat session. Responsive to receiving user input defining the instant messaging chat session, an entry is created in the user's calendaring system to form a scheduled instant messaging chat session, wherein the entry is based on the properties defined in the scheduling interface.
