Wireless communications systems and methods related to beam management configurations for relay devices or repeaters are provided. A network node receives, from a relay node, a first communication indicating one or more beam management parameters associated with a plurality of beam directions. The network node receives, via the relay node, one or more second communications associated with one or more user equipments (UEs) and at least one of the plurality of beam directions. The network node transmits, to the relay node based on the one or more beam management parameters and the one or more second communications, a third communication indicating a beam management configuration associated with the plurality of beam directions.

Network assisted repeater beam configurations

Aspects described herein relate to defining gaps within a time period for measuring self-interference due to clutter. The gaps can be defined for a device to measure self-interference caused by reflection of the signal, or may be specified by a network node to cause the device to refrain from transmitting so the network node can measure self-interference caused by reflection of the signal.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may be configured to include an array of lenses along with multiple antenna arrays that each include a set of antenna elements. The antenna arrays may each support multiple beam directions, such as a respective beam direction for each lens of the array of lenses. If beams for multiple antenna arrays concurrently pass through the same lens, the lens may contribute to maintaining separation between the beams. Lenses may also contribute to the shaping of beams, and the use of multiple lenses may enhance a coverage area for beams transmitted or received by the antenna arrays.

In some aspects, a device may use a lens design that enables full-duplex operation through a lens by facilitating an avoidance or mitigation of self-interference during full-duplex operation. The lens may have a first, antenna-facing surface and a second, outward-facing surface and, to avoid or mitigate self-interference due to reflection off the lens, the first surface may have a first curvature associated with a relatively small radius. In such examples, the device may transmit wireless signaling from a transmitting element and a reflection off the lens may be dispersed or otherwise oriented away from a receiving element in accordance with a design of the first curvature. In some implementations, the lens may include an anti-reflective coating to further reduce reflection off the lens.

Method and apparatus for channel oriented modulation selection for improved spectral efficiency. The apparatus receives an activation indication indicating an activation of a modulation selection procedure and a set of REs used for the modulation selection procedure. The activation indication indicating a first modulation for a first subset of REs within the set of REs and a second modulation for a second subset of REs within the set of REs, the first subset of REs having a higher quality than the second subset of REs. The apparatus receives downlink communication based on the modulation selection procedure.

Channel oriented modulation selection for improved spectral efficiency

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communications device may transmit a first signal. The first signal may be transmitted from a first antenna array of the communications device through a lens of the communications device in a direction. An energy of a portion of the first signal may be below a threshold based on a position of a second antenna array of the communications device. The portion of the first signal may correspond to a portion of a reflection of the first signal that overlaps with the position of the second antenna array. The communications device may concurrently receive, at the second antenna array, a second signal originating from another direction, where the second signal may be focused in the direction of the second antenna array based on the lens.

Lens communication with multiple antenna arrays

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For instance, the described techniques support resource offset mapping for multiplexing. Resource offset mapping may refer to the mapping of frequency-domain symbols to different subsets of resources that are offset from each other or separated by gaps. For instance, a first wireless device may map a first set of frequency-domain symbols to a first subset of subcarriers and a second set of frequency-domain symbols to a second subset of subcarriers. A lowest subcarrier of the second subset of subcarriers may be separated by an offset or a gap from a highest subcarrier of the first subset of subcarriers. As a result, at least some distortion experienced on subcarriers in the gap may not spread to other subcarriers, and the reliability and throughput of communications between the first wireless device and a second wireless device may improve.

In some aspects, a relay may receive, from a network node and via a network node beam, a network node synchronization signal block (SSB). In some wireless communications systems, a user equipment (UE) may receive reference signals for a UE beam measurement procedure for measuring a set of network transmit beams corresponding to the set of reference signals. The UE may transmit a measurement report indicating measurements of the set of reference signals based on the UE beam measurement procedure, where the measurement report further includes an indication of one or more candidate network transmit beams that are additional to the set of network transmit beams and that are within an angular offset threshold from one or more network transmit beams of the set of network transmit beams. In response to transmitting the measurement report, the UE may receive a message indicating a configuration for communications with the network entity.

An example method performed by a UE includes processing one or more synchronization signals in a first slot according to a first configuration of slot parameters, wherein the synchronization signals are used for at least one of time or frequency tracking, receiving, from a network entity, a second configuration of slot parameters, and processing a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a second slot according to the second configuration of slot parameters, wherein the second slot occurs within a configured slot duration that is offset in time from the first slot.
