A medical device, such as an intra-aortic balloon pump or carrier with an extendable wheel track and handle configured to be removably carried and integrated with a cart. The wheel track is configured to extend upon extension of the handle and to return to its original position upon retraction of the handle.

Portable and modular transportation unit with improved transport capabilities

A multiple power-source housing adapted to prevent simultaneous removal of more than a single power source, such as a battery, at a time. In an example embodiment, the power-source housing is used to house batteries for an intra-aortic balloon pump, which use battery power during transport. The power-source housing holds a first and second power source. When the first power source is removed, a mechanism, such as a knob, prevents simultaneous removal of the second power source or removal of the second power source until the first power source is replaced. Similarly, when the second power source is removed the mechanism prevents simultaneous removal of the first power source or removal of the first power source until the second power source is replaced.

A mounting device for securing transport patient connected equipment, specifically an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), in the typically crowded medical transport vehicle. An engagement stud on the IABP slides into a spring-loaded latch connected to a vehicle mounted base. The engagement stud configuration allows the user to engage the IABP from any desired direction, i.e. slide the pump from any of the four sides onto the mount. No effort is required from the user beyond the pushing motion for locking the IABP onto the mount.

An intra-aortic balloon pump condensation prevention system comprising a water vapor extracting element. In one embodiment, the water vapor extracting element may comprise a Nafion tube. Said Nafion tube absorbs water vapor in the intra-aortic balloon catheter shuttle gas. The water is then extracted from the Nafion tube by means of a vacuum supply or a dry purge gas. In another embodiment, the water vapor extracting element may comprise a cooled coiled section of tubing. Water vapor which condenses in said coiled section of tubing migrates towards a sump as a result of the intermittent one-way flow of shuttle gas through the water vapor extraction element.
