A user device provides, to a network, information associated with the user device, and receives, from the network, a multi-bit network indication that indicates access technologies, services, and network capabilities provided by the network. The user device determines whether the user device is in a home network or a visited network based on the multi-bit network indication. The user device passes bits of the multi-bit network indication to an upper layer when the user device is in the home network or passes a portion of the bits of the multi-bit network indication to the upper layer when the user device is in the visited network. The user device receives a selection of one of the access technologies, the services, or the network capabilities, and receives, from the network, the one of the access technologies, the services, or the network capabilities for the user device based on the selection.

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are provided to store traffic management data that indicates different levels of congestion that are each correlated to a different category of application of an end device, a type of congestion mechanism including at least one of access class barring, enhanced access class barring, service specific access control, application specific congestion control for data communication, or unattended and background data traffic, and barring parameters; receive a request for wireless service; obtain a level of congestion; determine that the request cannot be granted based on the level of congestion; select one of the levels of congestion based on the level of congestion; generate a first barring message based on the type of congestion mechanism, barring parameters, and category of application correlated to the one of the levels of congestion; and transmit the first barring message to the end devices.

Method and system for traffic management using a unified network barring mechanism

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a network slice-based admission and congestion control service is provided. The congestion control service monitors for congestion in a network slice. When congestion is detected, the congestion control service may adjust an allotment of a resource of a network device or the resource of the network slice from end-to-end. When neither of these adjustments can be made, the congestion control service may use a network slice-based access control barring.

Systems and methods enable a wireless station in a radio access network to apply slice-based admission control. A wireless network provides differentiated service via a first management device that manages and provisions resources that are located in an edge cloud of the wireless network separate from a second management device that manages and provisions resources that are located in a core cloud of the wireless network. The first management device may provision the edge cloud resources to provide various functionalities and services of the wireless network in a localized manner to user equipment ('UEs') that are associated with low latency or high reliability requirements. A method includes receiving, at a network control component, an enhanced subscriber profile identifier (E-SPID) associated with at least one machine type communications (MTC) user device from a home subscriber server (HSS). The method includes determining whether the E-SPID is in a first range of E-SPID values, wherein the first range of E-SPID values corresponds to a delay that exceeds a threshold, and interacting with a self-organizing network (SON) controller that interacts an operation administration maintenance (OAM) component to control and define a modified E-SPID based on network traffic and coverage in response to a determination that the E-SPID is in the first range of E-SPID values. The method further includes sending the modified E-SPID to at least one enhanced evolved node b (eNodeB) associated with the at least one MTC user device, wherein the at least one enhanced eNodeB is operable to perform access control and scheduling for the at least one MTC user device based on the E-SPID.

A computer device may include a memory storing instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to select a broadcast method for a wakeup signal for a wireless communication device; instruct a base station to broadcast the wakeup signal using the selected broadcast method; and provide information identifying the selected broadcast method to the wireless communication device. The processor may be further configured to receiving a wakeup request from a machine-type communication interworking function (MTC-IWF) device; map the received wakeup request to a wakeup signature beacon signal associated with the wireless communication device; and instruct the base station to transmit a wakeup signature beacon signal to the wireless communication device based on the received wakeup request.

A mobile device may receive user input for requesting personal information for a subject in proximity of a mobile device and based on the user input, selecting one of available functions. The functions may include a first function for obtaining personal information using a first identifier. The functions may also include a second function for obtaining the personal information using the first identifier. The mobile device may output the personal information as an image to a display or as speech to speaker.

A system described herein may provide a mechanism for efficiently delivering messages to a User Equipment ('UE') associated with a wireless telecommunications network, such as a UE that is frequently in an inactive state. A message for the UE may be received and buffered. Once the network determines that the UE has transitioned from the inactive state to the active state (e.g., as detected by a Mobility Management Entity ('MME') or an Access and Mobility Management Function (&#x201c;AMF&#x201d;)), the buffered message may be provided to the UE using control plane signaling.

A method for network controlled beam sweeping, may include receiving, at a network control device, location data associated with user equipment (UE) devices within a service area. The method may also include identifying, at each beam sweeping position of a plurality of beam sweeping positions, geo-bins having at least one UE device located within. The method includes receiving, at the network control device, networking requirements and traffic distribution data associated with the UE devices, and determining a sweeping weight for each identified geo-bin, where the sweeping weight is based on the networking requirements and the traffic distribution data associated with the at least one UE device in a geo-bin, and determining a sweeping factor for each beam sweeping position based upon the sweeping weights. The method may also include determining a beam sweeping pattern for all the beam sweeping positions based on the sweeping factors.

A user device receives system information block data from a cell. The user device obtains, from the system information block data, cell metadata that includes a cellular parameter. The user device parses the cell metadata to identify the cellular parameter. The cellular parameter includes an upper layer indicator element, a public land mobile network (PLMN) information list element, and a network capability indicator element. The user device determines, based on the cellular parameter, that the cell is of a particular cell type of a plurality of cell types, and that the cell has a particular capability of a plurality of types of capabilities. The user device performs an action based on the particular cell type or the particular capability.
