The present disclosure relates to fluid bed processes that utilize silica particles as a fluidization aid. The process comprises reacting one or more reactants in a reactor comprising a fluid bed to form a product. The fluid bed comprises a catalyst composition comprising a catalyst and an inert additive composition comprising silica particles from 0.5 wt % to 30 wt %, based on the total weight of the catalyst composition. The silica particles are discrete, inert particles that are mixed with the catalyst in the fluid bed.

This invention discloses a disposable integrated polymeric vacuum filtration funnel. The integrated polymeric vacuum filtration funnel comprises a filtration funnel body having a filter frit disposed inside at the bottom, an outlet stem connected with an outlet at the outer bottom of the filtration funnel body; the outlet stem is integrated with the filtration funnel body; the filter frit is sealed to the inner bottom and the inner side surface of the filtration funnel body; the integrated polymeric vacuum filtration funnel comprises a sealing joint disposed underneath the outer bottom of the filtration funnel body, the sealing joint having a side-arm for vacuum connection and a standard adaptor to connect the receiving receptacle; the outlet stem protrudes from the standard adaptor; the filter frit, filtration funnel body, and sealing joint are integrated as one device. The invention can effectively reduce or eliminate the loss of the filtrate and filter cake, avoid contamination, easy to use, and cost-effective.

The process disclosed herein satisfies the need in the art for an industrially viable oxidative carbonylation catalytic system, and is capable of producing carbamates at a significantly higher rate than those processes reported in journal and patent literature. This reaction process takes place via a reaction mechanism that does not involve drastic conditions. Specifically, the catalytic system of the present invention employs Group VIII metal catalysts and/or copper-based catalysts with halide promoters to produce carbamates through heterogeneous oxidative carbonylation at atmospheric pressure and relatively non-drastic temperatures in a gas-solid carbonylation process.
