A CPU prompts a user to drive a vehicle to a repair shop by operating a display when an amount of PM deposited in a GPF increases. When a regeneration request for the GPF is input from a shop-side terminal in the repair shop, the CPU performs a regeneration process in a state in which the vehicle stops. The CPU controls a temperature of the GPF such that the temperature at the time of execution of the regeneration process becomes lower when an opening/closing member is in a closed state than when the opening/closing member is in an open state.

A control device for an internal combustion engine is provided. The control device includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to set a target air-fuel ratio to a rich air-fuel ratio from a time at which fuel cut control for terminating fuel supply to a combustion chamber during operation of the internal combustion engine is terminated to a time at which an output air-fuel ratio of a downstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor becomes a rich determination air-fuel ratio or lower, temporarily set the target air-fuel ratio to the rich air-fuel ratio after the output air-fuel ratio of the downstream-side air-fuel ratio sensor becomes the rich determination air-fuel ratio or lower, and thereafter set the target air-fuel ratio to a lean air-fuel ratio.

Control device for internal combustion engine

A catalyst protection device includes: a catalyst provided in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine and purifying exhaust gas; a bed temperature acquisition unit acquiring a current bed temperature of the catalyst; a base increase value calculation unit calculating a base increase value that is a base value of an increase value of a fuel injection amount injected by a fuel injection valve included in the internal combustion engine in order to cool the catalyst when the current bed temperature exceeds a predetermined determination value; a compensator acquiring a corrected increase value by correcting the base increase value using a reduction coefficient that is calculated by incorporating a value of a target bed temperature set to a value strictly lower than the determination value; and an injection amount increasing unit selecting any one of the base increase value and the corrected increase value. When catalyst protection is required, the fuel increase value is therefore optimized to reasonable values, while not being reduced too much.

Catalyst protection device and catalyst protection method for internal combustion engine

A catalyst protection device includes: a catalyst provided in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine; a bed temperature acquisition unit that acquires a bed temperature for each of a plurality of regions of the catalyst distributed in an exhaust gas flow direction; and a fuel injection unit that determines for each of the regions whether an increase in fuel injection amount is required on the basis of the corresponding bed temperature acquired by the bed temperature acquisition unit, that calculates an increase in fuel injection amount for each region and that injects fuel of an amount including the sum of the calculated increase values.

A fuel injection control for an internal combustion engine includes: estimating a convergence temperature of the exhaust gas catalytic converter; calculating an OTP boost value using the estimated convergence temperature; and estimating the convergence temperature on the assumption that the temperature decrement quantity of the exhaust gas catalytic converter which is caused by the power boosting is zero when both of the OTP boosting execution condition and the power boosting execution condition are met.

Fuel injection control apparatus for internal combustion engine and fuel injection control method for internal combustion engine

During deterioration detection of a catalyst, exhaust gas of a lean air/fuel ratio and exhaust gas of a rich air/fuel ratio are alternately supplied to the catalyst, and decrease of the Ostorage function is detected by obtaining the oxygen occlusion amount in the catalyst, based upon the timing at which, after changeover of the air/fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the catalyst, the air/fuel ratio of the exhaust gas passed through the catalyst changes to track that air/fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the catalyst. At this time, the rich air/fuel ratio of the exhaust gas and the lean air/fuel ratio of the exhaust gas supplied to the catalyst are set closer to the stoichiometric air/fuel ratio, the larger is the exhaust flow amount.

Method and device for detecting deterioration of catalyst

The valve timing is changed to increase the internal EGR amount the moment a fuel cut process begins (FIG.C). Before a sufficient amount of internal EGR is obtained, control is exercised so that the throttle-opening angle TA is larger than a basic idle-opening angle TA. When a sufficient amount of internal EGR is obtained, control is exercised so that the throttle-opening angle TA is smaller than the basic idle-opening angle TA(FIG.D). The increase in the internal EGR amount is rendered smaller during fuel cut at a low rotation speed than during fuel cut at a high rotation speed. In addition, the amount of decrease in the throttle-opening angle TA is rendered smaller during fuel cut at a low rotation speed than during fuel cut at a high rotation speed.

From the start of the engine to the detection of an engine speed peak, a control parameter (e.g., ignition timing) different from an air intake rate relating to an engine output is set to a value at which the engine output decreases than at an idling value. After detection of the peak, the control parameter is adjusted to the idling value.
