A lawn mower is provided wherein mowed grass is discharged from a mower device into a grass collector, with turnover of a traveling body being prevented, with the grass in the grass collector deposited in a container. The lawn mower has a mower device mounted on a traveling body provided with right and left rear wheels, a grass collector for collecting the mowed grass, a discharge duct for discharging the mowed grass from the mower device to the grass collector, and a lift mechanism having right and left fixed masts for supporting the grass collector that is lifted up and down. The lift mechanism lifts the grass collector to discharge the mowed grass therein. The lift mechanism is disposed widthwise between the right and left grass collector sides. The discharge duct connects to the grass collector between the right and left fixed masts, and is disposed therebetween.

Lawn mower grass collector lift mechanism

The invention relates to a traveling mower including a traveling bodywith a mower unit, and a grass collection boxfor storing the mowed grass. The box is pivotally connected to the traveling body for switching between a grass collection posture for receiving grass and a discharge posture for discharging grass. The bodyis provided with a posture change lever. The boxand the leverare associated with each other via an interlock mechanismso that the boxchanges the posture in accordance with the manual operation of the lever. The change of the posture of the boxis performed with a small operation force that depends on the amount of the grass in the box. To enable this, the interlock mechanismincludes a switching mechanism for increasing the turning angle of the box, per unit operation of the lever, when the boxis empty or substantially empty and for reducing the turning angle when the boxholds much grass.

Manually pivoting grass collection box

A running mower of the present invention comprises a traveling bodyprovided, between the front wheelsand the rear wheels, with a rotary mowing unitwhich includes a laterally spaced pair of mowing blades. The traveling body is also provided with an outlet ductextending backward from between the mowing blades past a position between the rear wheels for discharging grass mown by the mowing blades. The rotary mowing unitis provided with a forwardly extending mower input shaftdisposed offset from the center of the mowing blades toward one mowing bladeby an appropriate amount L. A front part of the traveling bodyis provided with an enginewhose power is transmitted to the input shaft via a mower transmission shafthaving a respective end provided with a universal joint. As a result, the power transmission from the engine to the rotary mowing unit is simplified while the mown grass is disposed smoothly from the outlet duct

Running mower

A running mower includes a traveling bodysupported by a pair of front wheelsand a pair of rear wheels, a rotary mowing unitvertically movably mounted to the traveling body between the front wheels and the rear wheels, and an outlet ductextending backward for discharging mowed grass. A downwardly open channel-shaped upper ductcovers an outletof the rotary mowing unit for mowed grass. The upper duct has a rear end inserted into an upper front end of the outlet duct. The outlet ductis channel-shaped to be downwardly open. The underside of the outlet duct is provided with an upwardly open channel-shaped lower ductforming a bottom element of the outlet duct and having a vertically movable front end. The front end of the lower duct moves together with the rotary mowing unit, so that the mowed grass is smoothly discharged even if the mowing height of the rotary mowing unit is lowered.
